They needed to see to believe. As some do now of course. Jesus raised a girl from the dead saying she was asleep so that those who had watched her die would understand he had awakened her back to the living. When Jesus died on the cross, taking the sins of all in the world upon himself there and becoming the curse that was the human race due to the parameters of God's law, he died before their eyes as every other man crucified had done. And yet, as was destined for Jesus in three days, his death insured eternal life for the faithful in him and that sacrifice. As his teachings related . What better way to culminate his teaching than with the visual of known dead rising up to walk again after Jesus died on the cross? And himself in three days arose from the tomb and walked among the people for forty days. Continuing his ministry by being the evidence his teaching, gospel, was truth.
