Greg Gianforte, the GOP House candidate in Montana who was neck-and-neck with his Democratic opponent before Thursday's special election, was cited for misdemeanor assault after an incident with a newspaper reporter, just hours before polls open.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that there was probable cause to issue a citation, but the nature of the injuries “did not meet the statutory elements of a felony assault.”

Still, the incident sent shockwaves across the country and resulted in two key Montana newspapers taking back their earlier endorsement.

The guy is an idiot and he has lost the election.

But funny how they can cite him for misdemeanor assault, but Hillary's 110 felony counts go unaddressed.

I'd still vote for him.....   I don't like pushy news paper reporters either.

He could have just called security and had the reporter removed.   Body slamming him has cost him the election.

Well, if you're running for Congress from a rural western state and you have a name that no one can pronounce, then this is one way to knock Russia off the front pages and get some of that national attention.

Congrats, Greg - you did it!

Unfortunately, even though many in your party would LIKE to kick the snot out of some reporters, they know it's not the mature or grown up thing to do.  Schoolyard bullies belong on the playground, not in Congress.

And you just lost the election.

Blessings,

-Ed

I wouldn't want someone who lacks self control in Congress, I think we have enough of them already don't we?

As predictable as night following day, the MENSA of the US House of Representatives has weighed in, blaming Trump - of course:

Pelosi: Greg Gianforte shows he's a 'wannabe Trump' by body slamming reporter

For Pete's sake lady, get a grip . . .

Blessings,

-Ed

She is way off base on this, Trump is a bully but he is not about to actually confront anyone or get in a physical altercation.

You miss the point.

This was some obscure election out in Montana - contrary to the blatherings of the fine lady from San Francisco and others of her partisan persuasion, it had and has NOTHING to do with the current occupant of the WH.  Without even delving deeply into the factors in this LOCAL election (of which I admittedly know nothing) , I could safely say that local issues will determine the winner.

As they have and will continue to do now and into the future.

Surprised that you - who decries partisanship at most every turn - fell for this.

Blessings,

-Ed
