To early to ave any results. Has anyone else tried it? I am leaving the top on each container just poking th eseed through into the cup and then adding a litttle moisture each day. They're plastic, which is derived from petroleum. And they're bleached white, which add's in the dioxin factor when the hot water goes through the grounds in that little cup in your Keurig. Look at the top of your coffee in the sunlight before adding any milk or sugar. Rainbows? That's the petroleum from the plastic dioxin bleached coffee cup. People now are living twice as long if not 3 times as long now as before plastic was invented so it obviously can't be THAT bad for you. With that said repurposed the cups into planters after using them is ingenious. Good way to make the best use of what we have. Nothing against that! "Coffee scum is the oily film that is seen in coffee or that coats the inside of the cup after the coffee has been drunk. This film is caused by natural coffee oils contained in coffee beans. This is where the rainbow comes from, not plastic Keurig containers. If it was the plastic you'd see that oily film in literally every other drink contained in plastic such as pop, water, tea, milk, etc etc. If you want to argue heat is the factor go boil some water and pour it into a plastic cup. And pour it back out again. You will find no "film" unless you boil coffee. Fun fact, if you boil coffee the old fashioned way in a all metal pot with no filters you will still find that "film" like Gary said coffee beans naturally contain oils.
