I could not leave my backyard and be in the range between the total eclipse and the .9 magnitude! A bunch of us have already taken the day off work and have a eclipse party planned. I watched a partial eclipse years ago wearing an arc welder's face mask.

There is planned to be over 30k people coming to our little community. Not counting the surrounding areas and the people that will be showing up unannounced. They have been putting in the newspapers to stock up on standard household items as they are afraid the stores will be emptied. A friend of mine has his house on air bnb. During 3 days of the eclipse stuff his house has been rented for $1000 per night.

We will see as it gets closer. I'd like to go up to Yellowstone for a couple of weeks during that time and drift south to catch the center of the total eclipse... depends on how the wife feels and of course the weather.
