California is restricting publicly funded travel to four more states because of recent laws that leaders here view as discriminatory against gay and transgender people. California now restricts travel to Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota, Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee.

What? Arizona is not on the list??? They boycotted us for years over our immigration laws. But it wasnt serious enough to refuse to buy our extra electricity.

I am upset that my state is not on that list. I guess we need to try harder.

Federal law supersedes state law. The Fed needs to crack down on bigot elected officials like this and fast. Otherwise, it is going to set a precedent that will fracture this country from the inside. And of all things to begin that fissure it's homosexual advocates discriminating against Christians and other states.

Just as in Texas. Governor Abbot allows religious discrimination against homosexual families.
From the article: "Texas Gov. Greg Abbott this month signed a law that
allows child welfare providers to deny services because of “sincerely held religious beliefs,” a provision that critics interpreted as permitting adoption agencies to deny services to gay families."

That's illegal! It is no more right than is this California decision.

Just to see the impact of this AG's decision.

(California) Statewide Travel Program

The Statewide Travel Program assists government travelers' needs by obtaining the most economical rates and fares available through the use of contracted travel-related services. By leveraging the state's total travel spend, the state gains the advantage of the best pricing model available.
The program is also extended to the following government entities: cities, counties, special districts, California state universities, California community colleges, K-12 public school districts. To participate in the program and benefit from the contracted travel-related services, you must be enrolled in the program.  Contact the STP staff (PDF) for more information.

Nah. First off on principal, that while you are correct that federal law supercedes state law, it shouldn't. State law should come first. Second...who cares let them throw their pity party.

It shouldn't but it does. That's the reality.

actually the constitution is pretty strict on what it lets the Federal Government do....   and if it is not granted in the constitution the states do not have to abide by federal laws.....   and Oklahoma has put the Federal Government on notice that we will not do so....
