Firstly, I didn't suggest that we institute the full range of every law and punishment from Leviticus in the legal system. I was mainly making the point that tailoring a system to mimic the behavioral standards that God set forth for Israel would probably have a fairly high likelihood of leading to a healthy and functional society. If we made the 10 commandments the foundation of our legal system, it would transform the nation in some pretty amazing ways.

Why would we pass laws stopping something that is not happening? Should I see how many Christians are will to help get a state to pass a law against the Mosaic law? Seems that would be just as big a waste of time since nobody is trying to implement that either.

I mean, after all, they were ordered by God. Do you believe that such a thing should take place in the US?

(sigh) I said they should be the foundation of our laws/legal system. I didn't say that we should make coveting, adultery and using the Lord's name illegal and punishable by law. I am speaking to the moral paradigm they represent.
