it is not so much a question of simply if God calls you to go to a bar or jail but rather that you have grown enough in spirit to do any good in such sin sick places that makes the difference because God may lay it on your heart to want to help such people come to God but you must be weary of the enemy's snares for Satan can call you as well, and if you go to such places you must not partake of what is being indulged in as well as that you can stand firm for God in truth,so first know where you stand "spiritually" because remember there were those in the bible whom thought that they could handle casting out demons, but alas they couldn't because they had not grown in the spirit as I recall the demons spoke on this wise"I know paul I know peter, but who are you?" and afterward the demons humiliated them by disrobing them and scaring them away, the same principle is applied with bars and jails you must have more than just faith for helping people whom are confounded or in deep despair or of a reprobate mind, you must grow in spirit by reading the bible alongside the holy spirit, learning what is written, and knowing what is true, for if one goes to where sin is and trouble abounds, then ye know that you will be asked many a tough question or even some shall say snide remarks, trying to discredit your mission for God,one must be able to answer such questions and speak up against such stumbling blocks, for you must always realize that when going to a place of sin, hatred, and despair, that there will be those who shall desire you to looketh a fool, and those as well who shall not believe as you do,and so thereby it shall be difficult to reach them, and of course know when to speak and when not to speak, leave this to God to decide when you shall speak or not,for some if not many shall be as clams not willing to open themselves unto you for fear of what they do not know,as well as having hardened hearts because much has befallen them or have asked much of God,and cannot see how God hath helped them or even see if God exists,so do not run in haste to such places of sin, hatred, and despair, before knowing first that you have grown enough in spirit and truth,to be capable of suffering such places for the purpose of bringing a soul to God,but also be sure to know whom calls you,God or the devil,to do this think on this wise, does the calling urge you to do something in haste and urge you to buy or partake of something that you know you shouldn't? if this is the case then the devil hath called you so do not answer his call, does the calling urge you to be patient, compassionate, and urges you to not buy or partake of something that you know you shouldn't? then God is calling unto you, answer his call if ye be ready, for the difference simply put lies in what you are being urged to do if it be something easy and sinful then it is not of God,if it be something difficult, yet not sinful and is helpful to God,then it is of God,as you walk with God in time ye shall know whom calls you, what you can handle according to your spirit, and where ye are to go,have faith in God and God's word, and seek "Truth" "Love" and "Compassion" and ye can serve God knowing what you enter into and in what manner you are to serve God.

So just want to understand clearly.  You would hear the Lords voice like a human speaking to you, telling you to go some place , like the bar as an example to witness to someone.   just trying to understand when someone says the Lord told them to do something, how that communication takes place.  Some has said they while reading a scripture verse they feel it was the Lord speaking for them to do something specific .

The 2 or 3 witnesses at Christ's baptism were the prophets in Scripture, John the Baptist himself, the witness of the Holy Spirit coming upon Him, and the Voice from heaven.

We also have the still small voice.   When God speaks to me I get confirmation of the same message over and over.  Often it comes in daily Bible reading or a sermon as well.  But the thought does not leave me and is usually motivated by compassion.  I have never heard an audible voice but I know very genuine Christians who have.

Somehow , I don't think talking to inebriated people about Jesus would be the best idea.  Perhaps giving them a  Bible tract  & your contact info for them to reach out to you when they are sober, that would be my suggestion.

I agree the people in there are trying to get to a place where they do that which they would not otherwise... not a lot of wisdom in that :)

I agree. That way noone needs to walk into a drunken den. Its just as easy to put a gospel tract on their windshield of their car.

Did the disciples go out at night? Did Jesus?  We are children of light and we do our work in the daylight. Satan and his followers are children of night.

I do leave gospel tracts on the windshields of  cars at the casino where I live. I dont want to go in there. When I actually talk to people it is daytime.

Yes, if I would go in there, I'd ask them if they wanted a Tract & tell them if they felt sad or alone and unsatisfied by the path they were on & wanted to talk about God's love & plan for them or me to pray for them to  give me a call or something like that.

Well to be more specific was agreeing with you not to go in for there is little soil in a bar to plant seed when their there to get drunk ... which is what I was meaning when I wrote what I did :)

Thank you for your testimony Willa.  I myself have never heard a audible voice from God.  During the time of spiritual warfare and when the battles became intense, i can only say it was God that was directing me to withstand and to be courageous, as to the terrible conflicts that at times you want to run, but something i feel speaks to me in my spirit to stay put.

I have to be forthright and say i feel no move or unction from anything except from the evil things that come to tempt and persuade me to go back to the old man.  Thus my name here at worthy. I did not choose  that name for style, but in truth it is who i am .    In this way i can truly say a christian who has experienced  the spiritual realm and have read the Bible, can never turn back to the old man and therefore his salvation is eternal.   It is like God has said, you see this is a confirmation of my word in spirit too. [ Meaning he cannot loose his salvation, as to the reality he has been a witness to and the truth of the Bible. ] Of course, salvation is from the Lord and the glory is all his.

I have felt physical entities play with my body and things of that nature and with my sensual senses.   It is real and my testimony as before the Lord to the reality of this world today that we live in.    I read the word and is comforted by its contents and truth.

Have anyone else heard God speak to them audibly.  It is a great opportunity to give God the glory and testify of that truth and yes right here at worth.
