Message Bible Author Eugene Peterson: Homosexuality Not Wrong, Megachurches Aren't Real Churches

33 posts in this topic

The thing that makes the Message by Eugene Peterson & concern is not only just based upon any stance on homosexuality but Peterson takes the perfectly chosen words & meaning of scriptures and paraphrases them omitting the God's Truth.  The Message bible is  horrible imo....it is like Peterson is writing the Bible in his own image. He blunts the Sword that is the Word of God.  In Matt24:4 Peterson omits , " let no man deceive you"

It also doesn't surprise me to find that Mr. Peterson also endorses Rob Bell & the Shack.

Revelation 22: 18- 19  "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Interviewed by The Religious News Service (RNS) ...here is the full answer of Petersen...

RNS: A follow-up: If you were pastoring today and a gay couple in your church who were Christians of good faith asked you to perform their same-sex wedding ceremony, is that something you would do?

EP: Yes.

Not much context to speak of there...but some how Mr. Petersen didn't mean 'yes'.

Argh.  Jonathan Merritt.  I've never seen someone who proclaims so loudly that he is Christian that so obviously also hates the Church.  Every other article he writes is written from the perspective that the Church should now embrace homosexuality, and if we don't, the Church is full of Big Blue Meanies.  Then every other article just bashes on the Church in some other way.

Peterson is no "paragon."  He meant his yes.
