Short answer is yes, because people are NOT good. I cannot say, I am a good person, because I never killed anyone, I never raped anyone, I never stole anything. If I never borrowed a paper clip that I never returned, if I never drove a mile an hour over the speed limit, if I never told a single lie or tried to deceive anyone, if I never harbored a bad thought about anyone, then maybe I could begin to think of myself as good. Getting to Heaven, is not about how good I was one the scale of overall behavior in my life. That is not the standard. The standard is "Have I ever sinned even one time, just a little, in my life?" If I have ever sinned, that makes me a sinner, and it is unsaved sinners, who go to Hell. However, there is hope, because Jesus ransomed some people, those who believe in Him, from Hell. I would say that is part of why, but can't really answer that question for Him. I often wonder why He loves me, or any of us for that matter, but I know that He does. You see, Satan, after he rebelled, told GOD that HE wasn't Love. So, in order to show the Angelic Host HIS Character, HE, through Christ, created mankind just so that HE, through Christ, could save us by sacrificing HIMSELF, as Christ; thereby demonstrating how HE Loves.
