1 Thessalonians 4:6-17

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

What does it mean when the "dead in Christ" shall rise.  I have heard this all my life that the graves will give up the dead, dead bones? dirt? dust? ashes?  Why will anything here on earth be of any value on that day?  Our fleshly bodies are temporary and will have no place in heaven.  So what will come out of the grave?

The earthly body is the material that will be used to create our heavenly body.  This is what will rise from the grave at the resurrection.

Will be used?  As a seed....

1 Corinthians 15:35-58New Living Translation (NLT)

The Resurrection Body

35 But someone may ask, “How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?” 36 What a foolish question! When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first.37 And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting. 38 Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have. A different plant grows from each kind of seed. 39 Similarly there are different kinds of flesh—one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.

40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies. 41 The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory.

42 It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. 43 Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. 44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

45 The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.”[a] But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit.46 What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. 47 Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. 48 Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. 49 Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like[b] the heavenly man.

50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die,[c] this Scripture will be fulfilled:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.[d]
55 O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?[e]

56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Blessings :)

2 Corinthians 5:1-3
1  For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2  For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3  If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

Yes there is no need to bring back a body when and if you make it to heaven you will get a new body and not be naked without a body.

If my body don't exist anymore in the grave and I am in heaven then why wouldn't God not give me that new body anyway, if he going to give me a new one anyway ?

So the dead in Christ must be those who died and rose up to heaven like Stephen when they stoned him to death, but he saw Jesus before it happened, so Jesus must have been waiting to receive him just right after he died, so the dead in Christ rose first, but he was alive in Christ never to die as far as the inner man.

I get into arguments with people over the teaching that the body of Jesus Christ is a prototype.

Adam is the first prototype. Jesus is the last Adam.

Even if Jesus had the same actual genes and DNA of Mary he has inherited the fallen sin nature of Adam (and is not sinless).

The Bible clearly teaches Jesus is sinless.

It also teaches he is the son of David, and of Abraham, and of the tribe of Judah.

We live in a wonderful age of discovery and answers in science (despite the humanist efforts to squelch truth)

in that we know that genetic coding and DNA are all about information.

The prototype body of the last Adam, no doubt has the DNA and genetic information of the messianic line without having the actual passed down DNA / genes

of the sons and daughters of the first Adam.

God will have no trouble producing our resurrected bodies with the same DNA / genes only perfected for eternal life with God in his new heaven-earth.
