Sin is any thought, word or action that is contrary to the character or law of God. Every human being sins. We have to take Romans 3:23 literally and not give the verse our own meaning.

Why does Romans 3:23 say this? What's the context?

It does not take a rocket scientist to interpret Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Every human being sins.

I would encourage you to read the context. It also says further up no one seeks God. Do you seek God?

When we were born did we seek God? Every human is born a sinner. As we get older we have a choice to seek God and ask Jesus Christ into our lives. Babies and children do not go to hell when they die. They will also be raptured when Jesus Christ takes all of those born again Christians to heaven. Yes, I seek God but I have not always wanted to seek God.

what you speak of is in verse 11 and he is talking about unbelieving Jew in 11. actually verse 1 through 20 is about the Jew that will not relinquish the old law.

sure I seek God

Right and he continues and says that there is no difference all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, this is talking about everyone. A factual statement to show our need for Christ. It's not saying that when you are in Christ you still sin.

Of course we still sin. We are human 1 John 1:8. You and I as Christians sin each and everyday. A born again Christian will go to heaven because our sins past, present and future have seen washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.

In context 1 John 1:8 is to someone who doesn't agree they have sin to be cleansed of as stated in 1 John 1:7. That's why in 1 John 1:9 he gives the alternative and repeateds what he is teaching in verse 7.

where in the Bible does it say a Christian has a habit of sinning daily?
