Saved from what exactly?

brakelite, that emphasis is due to the nature of the question. The question was not about sin and it's consequences, it was about what it is that we are being saved from.

I get that. And scripture clearly informs us what it is we are saved from. The root cause of all our problems. Sin.

It is because sin has been dealt with that condemnation ceases. But condemnation continues for those whose sin is not forgiven, not repented of.

The problem that had to be dealt with...in fact the entire spiritual warfare in the universe is rooted in sin...selfishness. That is the cancer that needed to be cut out. Being saved from sin establishes the atonement.

Is it right too say that Jesus is saving those who believe in him from his punishment, not sin itself.

I mean if hell didn't exist, what would Jesus be saving you from exactly?

Jesus is saving us from sin AND the punish of sin.

Hell was never created for human beings.   Hell was only ever supposed to be for Satan and his minions.  God didn't create hell to punish human beings who rejected Him.

We are saved from being separated from God by our sin.  Our sin, starting in the Garden of Eden ruptured our relationship with God. That placed mankind in open rebellion against God and as such sin had to be punished and the only punishment for sin is death.

Instead of exacting that punishment upon us, God took the penalty upon Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ and sent His Son Jesus to be our sin offering to pay the penalty of our sin in an effort to satisfy God's justice, restore the relationship that was broken in the Garden and to give us eternal life.   God wants to spend eternity with us and we are saved from sin and from its penalty in order for that restoration to be possible.  So we are saved from sin and we are saved into eternal life.

Hell is the horrible consequence for rejecting God's offer of the free gift of eternal life.

In other words: there is no other place for rebellious mankind in God's creation, aside from Hell.

The punishment is not from Jesus nor is it from God. The punishment is from sin.

When God created man, he made man void of sin. After Adam bit the apple, man was/is subjected to sin.

Jesus and God want to bring us to a New place that is void of sin once again. So Jesus is saving us not from hell but from being left behind in sin.

I'm not saying there is no hell, but hints of hell can be seen here on earth.

From the killings, rapes and mistreating we do to eachother. I can only imagine hell being much worse.

So Jesus is saving us from eternal life stuck in sin/hell.

From the bondage of self.

It is only the 'self' (ego-self) which suffers from multiple forms of fears. Such as the fear of judgement, rejection, misunderstood, exposure, vulnerabilities, etc.

Jesus way and life is about the truth, and the truth will set you free from all fears created by 'self'.

Isn't it kind of a moot point? Hell does exist. We are dead, separated from God by our own sin.

Correct.  We choose hell when we choose to reject Gods salvation for us through Jesus Christ.  It is an eternity in darkness seperated from God.

Blessings Crazy4U

I do agree with BK & Rusty, hell does exist so the "what if" is not part of the equation......many have said that is not the reason to accept Jesus as LOrd & Savior ,to escape hell-but it is a very good reason for starters imo!!!!If the fear of eternal torment or fire and brimstone sends anyone running into Jesus Arms then I suppose it is as fine as any other way.......hell is real and that should get your attention

When we do come to the foot of the cross(however ya got there?) we meet JESUS because our Redeemer Lives    .....Christianity is a real & personal Relationship with Christ Jesus, our lives change because we change when we submit to Him ,confessing our sin with a repentant heart.....Jesus Saves us from death,we were literally walking around merely existing, our spirits were dead in sin and now we are made ALIVE in Christ, living life in more abundance-full of Peace ,Joy,Comfort and much more, beyond anything you could ever ask or think.......You've heard others say that Jesus SAves us from ourselves & that is true, our sinful nature, our flesh ,our carnality that only knows sensory perception.....there is so much more to life that we cannot see until the eyes of our heart are opened     I like to speak of what Jesus SAved us FOR rather than what we have been Saved FROM.....He Saved us FOR His Own,Gods Family  for His Kingdom         God Bless,Kwik
