Why? Actually I would prefer to follow Paul's instruction and lead, but if I could not, and I can't, I will then want to follow God's instruction for whom my bride is to be, regardless of my own instincts and leanings. So it just doesn't matter the perceived qualities of the woman, it is what does God will for me, and presumably for my bride as I can't imagine that sovereign God is not sovereign over my bride's life just as He is over mine..

  • Thanks 1

And I will think God is sovereign over that too, as well as He is over all that might have become married to you given the opportunity. May God smooth your pathways, and bless your life as you  believe in Him and His guidance for you.

To be as Paul is a valid yet unmentioned option in the scenarios imagined. For it is best perhaps not to just ask who, but to also ask if.

Probably someone like Boaz or Joseph.  They are Godly steady men and it is not mentioned that they are martyred.  I might even choose John but he spends all the time on the Isle of Patmos.  Like many women, I am not the nomadic type.  Most men in the Bible are nomads, many raise stinky sheep, and in the NT they  get dispersed.  The prophets and apostles mostly are tortured.   David spends most his life running from Saul or his son.  Guess I am picky.:P

Hey Willa, I liked your comment about not being a nomadic type of person. I hadn't even thought of that when I started reading this thread :)

Either Moses because he treated his wife with honor. Or Elkanah because he loved Hannah deeply and was very kind to her.

Hi MissMuffet, I agree, it is very important to consider how a person treats others. :)

In reality I most likely would have been the moabite guy that I assume hooked up with the other daughter in law of Naomi. You know, Ruths sister in law. The way my life has gone and my choices I would have put eyes on her.

But for the sake of gamesmanship and a bit of honesty Mary Magdalene, something about a woman who has been redeemed from a mess. Especially when I've made a mess myself. And if there ever was a woman who knew her first love and where to put true devotion, she would be one. She walked with Jesus.

I loved your answer, Zemke. My husband went to a prayer meeting a while ago and he was asked who he would relate to in the Bible. It is always a fun question to have a chance to consider. I loved the reminder of Mary Magdalene and that her life was redeemed, an encouragement for us. Blessings :)

Martha for me lol. I love a good meal and a clean house. Of course Martha was a friend of Jesus so had to be a great person. I think that had to be a warm living family.  Of course once the Lord healed Mary and ressurected Lazarus lol.

Always nice to have a clean house and a good meal Wayne :)
