What’s Wrong with the Watchtower and Jehovah’s Witnesses?

1. They forbid blood transfusions which leads to many deaths. Would you let the WT kill your children?

2. They falsely prophesied Armageddon in 1975, Oct.1914, 1925,

3. They preach a false gospel of works rather than Christ for salvation.Gal.2:16,21; 3:10-14,22-26; Eph.2:8-10

4. They deny the Trinity as taught in Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 48:12,13,16; I John 5:7; II Cor.13:14.

5. They deny Jesus Christ is “God manifest in the flesh”. (I Timothy 3:16).

6. They deny believers go to heaven except for 144,000 JWs. (Rev.19:1 great crowd in heaven; II Cor.5:1,8)

7. They deny hell, but Jesus taught it in Mark 9:44,46,48; “Ev punishment” Mt25:46; torment Luke 16:19-31

8. They deny Jesus Christ’s future visible return to earth. Rev.1:7; Zech 14:1-5; Acts 1:11.

9. They deny the personality of the Holy Spirit. (Answers 929 for 23 personal attributes of HS).

10. They deny Jesus died on a cross, but on a stake. (“nails” John 20:25; “over his head” Matthew 27:37.

11. They deny Christ died for our personal sins. Rom.5:8; I Cor.15:3; I John 2:2; 3:5; I Peter 2:24; 3:18.

12. They deny Jesus rose bodily from the dead, but only as a spirit. Luke 24:37,39; John 2:19-21;Acts 20:31 13. They deny soul consciousness after death. (Rev 6:9,10; Isaiah 14:9,10; Ezekiel 32:21,30,31;Phil 1:23

14. They deny present tense salvation. John 3:36; Rom.8:16; I John 3:2; 5:12,13; I Cor.1:18; II Cor.2:15; Eph 2:8

15. They deny that Jesus keeps believers saved. John 10:28; Rom.8:29,38,39; I Peter 1:4,5; I John 2:25; 5:13.

16. They change verses to deny Jesus is God. John 1:1; 8:58; Heb 1:6,8; Zech 12:10; Acts 20:28;Col 1:16,17

17. They forbid members from reading anti WT material, or proofs of the trinity or deity of Christ.

The JW Church is a cult. They do not know the same Jesus Christ which is in the Holy Bible.

I have to give them credit in one regard... their zeal.  Too bad it is based on false theology.  It would be nice to see a similar zeal within  the Christian community.

In spite of these doctrinal items, I find JWs tend to live as Christians as instructed by Jesus in the bible to a much higher degree that most others.  We can spend a lot of time criticizing the mistakes and wrong views of pretty much all churches.  I like to consider their fruit as well.  For example, the Roman Catholic churches are considered a cult by some, yet they do a lot of good in the world to bring people to Jesus who would otherwise never have heard of Him.

It really is pretty basic.... who Yeshua is.  And JW's drop the ball on that one right out of the gate.

Now these next few verses seem to refer to Yehovah and most JW's would agree...

Isaiah 41:4 (NKJV) Who has performed and done it,
Calling the generations from the beginning?
‘I, the Lord, am the first;
And with the last I am He.’

Isaiah 44:6 (NKJV) “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
‘I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God.

Isaiah 48:12 (NKJV) “Listen to Me, O Jacob,
And Israel, My called:
I am He, I am the First,
I am also the Last.

Pretty straight forward.  Very consistent.  Now we go to the book of the Revelation, which these same folks have a affinity for.

Revelation 22:13 (NKJV) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

That seems to follow the same pattern we saw in Isaiah.  But we come to this one.........

Revelation 2:8 (NKJV) “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write,
‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:

Even from their own New World Translation.....

Rev 2:8 “And to the angel of the congregation in Smyrʹna write: These are the things that he says, ‘the First and the Last, who became dead and came to life again:

Now that was written as a direct quote of Yeshua. Yeshua is claiming to be the pre-existent, eternal Yehovah!  The same Yehovah of Isaiah. Yet, JW's do not agree with their own scripture as they claim that Yeshua is actually the archangel Michael.

If one cannot get this basic concept right, which is the foundation stone to build upon, then every other theological concept fails.

Only 144,000 JW's make it?! that's not good odds, and all that going door to door? it's like a bad lottery. :P

They came regularly annoying my wife for years. I happened to be home one day they arrived, a husband, his wife two daughters and a small child.  I suggested they are disobeying God by going from house to house. He answered, "How so?" I said its in the Bible, "Where?" he said. I said its in Luke. I added, unless your invited to a home, your encroaching on their privacy and even could be annoying. He said, "Where in Luke?" I took his Bible and opened it at Luke 10:7;

"And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

His wife looked embarrassed and they never came back again.

It is proof that one can be very sincere, yet be sincerely wrong.  The adversary has done a quite a job in corrupting the Gospel.

I was listening recently to an old teaching from Walter Martin, author of "Kingdom of the Cults", about how one should handle witnessing to LDS and JW's.  It was a real eye opener.  One has  to take a very unique approach to it.  These folks have been so mesmerized by carefully crafted teaching that trying to come at it in traditional ways will likely be unprofitable.  And one thing also, we have to always be mindful that these are people who Messiah died for, just like us.  In dialoguing with them, we have to actually listen to them to gain their attention and respect.  If we act dismissive of them and don't ask them the right questions, in the spirit of genuine concern for them,  that will cause them to have to think their theology thru, we will just shut them down, the barriers will go up, and nothing we say will cut thru.  And in doing that, we have to be very foundational in what the Gospel truly is.   We have to allow the Word of God, the sword of the scripture, to do the work. They have been taught well how to twist the average true believer into a pretzel over semantics.   But we have to present that word to them in love and compassion.  That is the one thing they typically are not used to dealing with.   And another key is critical.... we must always act in a way that says we are not anti LDS or anti JW, but we are anti theology of the LDS and JW leadership. It is not the individual LDS or JW fault that they have been led astray by false doctrine.  Some very crafty people have misled them.

I highly recommend that one get some of Walter Martin's teachings on dealing with the cults.  Souls that Yeshua died for are being lost.

I don't understand why there is so much plagiarism on WCF.   People just copy and paste someone else's work without linking to the original source or indicating who the author is.   This OP was written by an Australian pastor called Keith Piper.   It's from page 20 of this PDF.
