Speaking in tongues is a "gift" of the spirit. It is a gift. Which means, Lord gives it to whom He seems fit. And gift is not something given to everyone. And gift is not something demanded and received by the receiver. It is at the discretion of giver. I have no idea how people call it a gift and say it is absolutely required for every Christian! Defeats the purpose of calling it a gift. Pray and ask the Lord to show the gift(s) He has given you already. And use that gift for the glory of God. We might like some particular gift. But Lord knows which ones He needs to give us. He might totally surprise you!

Best book I have read on the topic. God bless you in your quest for God's kingdom!

It's from God so it's good and edifying and for that alone it's worth perusing, but it is not necessary for salvation.
