Perhaps the most famous art piece in the Reformation times was the Ghent Altarpiece:

Hans Holbien the Elder (. 1460 – 1524) was a German artist during the Reformation era. Some of his famous work is the Agony in the Garden and the Triumph of Christ and Resurrection. What is unique about his style is that the outfits are all white, and only faces, hair, and other elements like fire are the proper colors. This is technique where the emphasis is on subject matter (persons) rather than what they are wearing (which is opposite of the Ghent Altar piece above, which has very elaborate Belgianese clothing on the Alpha and Omega, and Apostles).

Peter Paul Rubens --The Upper Room--- is one of my favorites.  It illustrates the emotion of the moment and the intensity as a person comeing up the stairs might view it.  I don't see it being a serene moment as does DeVinci.  They are celebrating the Passover Seder, He institutes the Lord's Supper, He speaks to Judas.  All speak to me of drama.
