The NRA, which for decades has opposed any new restrictions on firearms even after mass shootings, made a sharp pivot minutes before the White House gave the green light to debating a ban on bump stocks. The Las Vegas shooter used the device to turn his semi-automatic rifles into rapid-fire weapons similar to machine guns, producing a hail of gunfire that in 10 minutes killed at least 58 people and wounded nearly 500. “Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law,” the NRA and its lobbying arm, the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, said in a joint statement. Had bump stocks been illegal he would have still done it. There are several other ways to achieve that rate of fire, from simply practicing pulling the trigger fast (it is possible to obtain that rate of fire without any modifications) to modifying the weapon to making your own bump stock in your garage or buying one illegally. The bump stock is not the problem. You can't give in to them on something like this and expect they will suddenly see you as reasonable and not so bad after all. They will be celebrating behind the scenes how they scored a huge victory over those who are supposed to be protecting our rights to keep and bear arms, and they will be plotting the next restriction they think they can put in place. When will conservatives learn? What you have to do is keep these people on the defensive all the time, by trying to roll back old restrictions. Keep them fighting just to keep ground they have, and they will have problems moving forward. Never, for any reason give in to liberals. As for these regulations, or any others, the only people effected are law abiding citizens. Criminals will always find a way to obtain illegal weapons. That is why gun control laws are so misguided. The good people are left defenseless while the criminals have all of the guns. Anyone that is a member of the NRA should make their feelings known. If they won't listen, then stop supporting them and let them know why. Being a member like Patriot is gives him clout. They will pay attention if members threaten to quit.
