(Worthy News) - President Trump made the First Amendment his No. 1 enemy on Wednesday, calling freedom of the press “disgusting” and suggesting the TV networks he doesn’t like should lose their broadcasting licenses.

Triggered by an unflattering story from NBC News, Trump zeroed in on the network while making some of his most overt threats yet to the press. [ Source: NY Daily News (Read More...) ]

Fake @NBCNews made up a story that I wanted a "tenfold" increase in our U.S. nuclear arsenal. Pure fiction, made up to demean. NBC = CNN!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 11, 2017

With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 11, 2017

Network news has become so partisan, distorted and fake that licenses must be challenged and, if appropriate, revoked. Not fair to public!

Every day the true Trump shows through just a little bit more.

Our current president is a statist even more than our previous one was.

I don't know how any of you feel. But talk like this makes me uneasy.

I wonder what other "freedoms" he is "disgusted" by?

Some, perhaps.

Others - like myself - see it as just another diversion.  POTUS has no power over the press or the First Amendment.

The media was and is currently in a full blown meltdown over its hypocrisy regarding the Weinstein fiasco.  Too bad Mr. Trump had to step all over it.

Blessings,

This will please his supporters.  They would like to put a stop to any criticism of him at all.  Curtailing the 1st Amendment will be seen as expedient and forward-thinking.  If you cannot counter the opposition, just tie a gag around it's mouth.

No, and we are against stuff like what he is suggesting.  It doesn't please us at all.   None  of us mind legitimate criticism of the president.   But we do oppose the hate, lies,  vitriol and mockery that the Left puts out.

What he should do is sue NBC for the unfair and slanderous coverage they have put out.  When what organizations like NBC put out stuff that is not true, that is what the court system is for.

That is not what he said.   He didn't say freedom of the press was disgusting.   It is this kind of dishonest reporting that we oppose.  Freedom of the Press does not cover making up false stories and lies in order to smear the president.  Just as "free speech"  doesn't cover yelling "fire" in a crowded theater when there is no no fire,  Freedom of the Press does not extend to publishing intentionally false and misleading stories.

The president is not correct in what he actually said, but that does not give Jason Silverstein the right to make up false claims.   Jason Silverstein doesn't have the integrity, the honesty, or the manhood to correctly represent what the president said.

The fact the POTUS is not suing is very telling actually.  He is well known for going after those who actually lie about him.  When he just makes empty threats and never follows up it is a sure sign he does not want the truth to come out

He would then have to prove that what they put out is untrue. That would certainty  be interesting to see.   :D

Actually, NBC would have the burden of proof.  You can't prove that you didn't say something.  You cannot prove a negative in that way.   NBC would have to reveal their sources for the story, or admit they falsified it and publicly retract.

Even James Mattis said that the president did not call for a ten-fold increase in nukes.

Um....No. If You sue someone. You(the plaintiff) have to show how you have been damaged by the other party.  The burden of proof is on the person making the lawsuit(the  plaintiff)
