I do have some natural resources included in my investment portfolio, but not for any reason other than they tend to raise in value as the unbacked Federal Reserve dollars do.

It is my opinion that if you are buying them as some hedge against the economy crashing and countries not being able to support their money, I think it is a mistake.  These things have always held value in the past because there was always an active, legit economy behind them.   The way I see it, in the event of a world wide economic collapse (which is the only way the Federal Reserve dollars would be worthless) useless metals such as many of those will be worthless also.

People will be on the lookout for things they can use, not things that look pretty.  Weapons, ammo, food stuffs, seeds, water, medical supplies and the like are the tangible assets that will contain value.

Just my two cents

Mat 6:19  "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,

Mat 6:20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Mat 6:21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mat 6:24  "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Mat 6:25  "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Of course we all know those verses. Our first place is to be focused on Christ.

Prudent handling of the resources He has placed in our possession to increase for His kingdom is why i began the thread. Worldly possessions are not to be our first focus. Remember the parable of the servants.

So, do you convert your "unbacked Federal Reserve dollars" to tangible assets such as gold, silver, platinum?

And if so, for what purpose?

For prudent handling of the resources He has placed in my possession

to increase for His kingdom.

If we are truly His and what we have is His, and is to be used for His kingdom.

Blessings

While I do have a retirement account, I've been pondering how increasing wealth has any effect in the "to increase for His kingdom" when His kingdom is not wealth?

For there are those who hunger now.

Jesus spoke much about this,  and not in favor of people today, not a blessing, but woe... for most .....

The more wisely you shepherd the resources you have been entrusted

the more you can give. It's pretty straight forward.

We aren't taking anything with us, but investing in the Kingdom allows us to send it ahead, "building treasure in Heaven where moth and rust do not corrupt."

best wishes

George's post on the Biblical Concept of Wealth is a really good one.
