But all I've heard from him is scriptural and God's word. For a new Christian coming into this world, it's tough. Not because Christianity is a tough faith. But because of 'Christians'. How It All Began Many years ago, while I was serving as a missionary in Peru, I was an eyewitness to the great advancement of the Gospel through many indigenous workers and in spite of their severe poverty. For this reason, I began to pray and search the Scriptures regarding my proper response to such choice servants and their need. In III John 1:5-8, I found a compelling admonition: “Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers; and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. For they went out for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers with the truth." As I read through this passage, I began to ask myself how it should be applied. Should North Americans send only North American missionaries on their way in a manner worthy of God? Is it biblical for Christians in developed countries to help indigenous missionaries in less developed areas of the world? Because he preaches that you need works for salvation. But others say: 'Saved by grace through faith'. Paul explains that we have a change of heart, and character. And we rebuke sin greatly, more than before. I take that to mean justified in the eyes of man. Only God can be just towards man. Not man towards man, for man's justification is flawed. James explains well in the chapter, that even demons know there is one God, and they tremble.
