Since you went to that effort, I'll add the dates that are generally accepted by scholars whom believe these churches represent the church age from the first century to present. Of course there's much more there than just the history of the church age. The dates can vary a few years by different scholars. Ephesus - the Cross to 100 A.D. Ephesus means to let go, relax. It's the apostolic age. Smyrna - 100 A.D. - 313 A.D. Nothing negative said. Smyrna = bitterness. Associated with death. I believe the tribulation ten days referred to are the ten Roman rulers whom persecuted and martyred Christians. Pergamos - 313 A.D. - 590 A.D. Satan's seat at that time. Pergamos means 'perverted marriage'. (Rev. 2:13) Thyatira - 590 A.D. - 1500's. The Vatican, the Mass, Mary Worship, works, rituals, etc. Sardis - 1500 A.D. - 1700 A.D. The denominational church, a formalist and ritualistic worship church. See 2 Peter 1: 20-21 Philadelphia - 1700's A.D. - 1901. Brotherly love. A mission church with great revivals, awakenings and such men as Whitfield, Edwards, Spurgeon, and Moody. America rose as a great nation sending out the most missionaries. Laodicea - 1901 - until the return of Christ. In 1901 the RSV translation was introduced, now we had two Bibles (look how many translations today). Describes our churches today, lukewarm, cold, proud, unfaithful, covetous, little conviction, lack spirituality, self deception, social and mechanical, soul winning made into a business, mega churches. 1

Ah! Here it is. Galatians 3:1 1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

I'm going to guess it was the crucifixion? Based on the red highlighted passage: Quote Gal 2:20-21 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” Gal 3:1-3 ¶ You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

I was going for: … …that justification comes through faith, not through following the law. very different words...but both passages are really saying one thing aren't they same issue...Paul hammering on it from two very different angles I reckon... Are Galatians known for hard heads? I think I've seen a few Galatians around these parts....might have spotted one in the mirror once....not sure if that was a real memory or a bad dream....
