From G5586; to use pebbles in enumeration, that is, (genitive case) to compute: - count.

Wisdom comes from knowledge, and all wisdom is from God, from wisdom comes understanding. We were told to "count the number of the beast". This was written in Greek, and the Greek word means more then counting numbers. You simple can't understand this meaning if you don't understand this Greek word. The word is #5585 in Strong's Greek dictionary, and it means to "calculate by counting the stones that are warn smooth over a long period of time."

What stones? We were told in chapter two, we would receive a new stone with a new name written on it. This word "count" originated from that word "stone" of chapter 2:12 of the book of Genesis. 

These are the only places in the Bible this word for count, or stone is used. So we must enumerate, or calculate these stones worn smooth over a long period of time.    Its what the overcomers will sing, as the "Song of Moses tells us in Deuteronomy 32. 31-33.  God is our Rock, and Satan is the false rock, but which stones are we to count? 

The stones are the number of man, that man is Satan, and if you know Satan you will know his children. Those stones are his children [offspring]. The "mark of the beast" number [6-6-6] then is to count, or know Satan's children over a long period of time. They are the "Kenites", the offspring of Cain, who was the child of Satan, through Eve, who was" beguiled in the Garden of Eden".( 2 Cor 11:3)

Jesus said in Revelation 2 and 3 that the Churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia were the only acceptable churches to Him, because they knew who the Kenites were. The Kenites were "those who said they were Jews, and lied; because they were of the synagogue of Satan". The seven churches are the seven types of churches existing in these last days. Five are not acceptable to God, while the two are.  Satan is called a man .

Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus,(rock) Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

Thank you, Ed. I don't deny, the facts are impressive.

And not only can you count, but can add.
But the verse, and the title of your thread, say, Here is wisdom,
not, Here is how to count.
We have to undefstand what it means. Don't we?

We learn how to count in kindergarten, and how to add in grade school.
I was hoping to see what you think the wisdom is. 

I have contemplated that verse, counted the number, seen other count the number,
and I not sure I am any wiser.
I do have an interpretation of the verse, I never heard it spoken by anyone. 
I don't know if it is right, and was hoping to hear other's opinions.

And my second question?
Does Gematria offer meanings for numbers?
I really don't want to go and study it, and I thought, since you do you could answer that.

And I spotted a minor error. I think you meant Deut 32:30-31 instead of verses 31-33.

Hello Paul,  I use a KJV also so then I can use the Strong's Concordance.     You are correct in verse 32:7 their gods,  their rock.    They worshiped the anti-christ. 

Deu 32:31  For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
Deu 32:32  For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
Deu 32:33  Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.  

Have you looked up 666 in a Strong's?

That goes right along with this verse.

Gen_4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Probably from H225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.: - mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.

That way you can "count the number of stones" down threw Cains history and on threw today.    But that is where one would start.

I have actually never been led to use Strong's.
Every time I hear of it I think maybe I should look at it. But then I think, what for?  
I got my Holy Ghost and scripture to interpret scripture.

I appreciate your thought provoking research, but I am still not catching on to what you are counting there.
The number of generations in Cain's lineage?

And how are these stones worn smooth over time?

When you pointed to the verse with bdellium and onyx (Gen 12:2) and said "stones worn smooth over time",
I thought, Cabochons. Gemstones that are polished round, rather than cut and faceted. 
But I think those stones are for the Ephod, and for the breastplate. (Ex 35:9)

I can't see the wisdom, or understanding, in counting people who have the mark.

I was watching the world population count a while back, you just made me remember it.
Of course it is not accurate because nobody knows for sure exactly how many people there are, but there are estimates.
And I noticed that we passed the 6.66 billion mark on or very close to the 6th Jun 2006, by the estimates given on the web.
Which also gives me some idea how long I have been pondering this verse.  

And, count can have a different meaning too.
I can count you as my friend, for example. And I do. 
So them that have understanding can count the number of the beast as being the number of a man too?
Just a consideration. What do you think?
But it doesn't fit with the Strong's dictionary definition you've given us, does it.

I hope I don't seem dumb but what is Germatria ? And how is God using it ? And does this help us to understand the mark ?
