I believe the issue at hand -- is not that numbers have meaning in the Bible. But rather that Kabbalists take gematria in their esoteric understandings of Scripture too far. In Israel, you can't study Kabbalah until you are 35 -- some say 40 -- because you are not "mature" enough and if you study before you've reached maturity -- you can go mad aka "lose your mind". Bottom line, while there are Biblical connections to numbers and there are meanings behind God use of the numbers --- there is also the danger by looking for "meanings" like those in Kabbalah to come up with conclusions that do not line up with the Word. Now all I have to do is look up all those strange words ????? ? I looked them up.
