Terms like that are used poetic or prophetic passages and is simply a manner of speaking, the Bible uses poetic imagery about the earth and the heavens without establishing any kind of cosmology. Henry M Morris taught me no use the plainest of language...not fancy thinking adjusted for the times. I have a few of his books if you need a quote. Trees producing fruit, Adam talking and walking, rocks were rock hard. Scientifically creation was already ancient from week one. You can't scientifically ask for the earth to be young, and then have an ancient planet provided by the end of the first week. Scientifically, you can't have it both ways. We assume he thought it was properly aged in his evaluation. This demonstrates that God can create aged things. So God, likely, created an aged earth. And as the story illustrates, science is none the wiser. So scientifically, the earth is old. Spiritually, man is only as old as Adam. It appears that you have nothing but assumption and speculation. We use the word "ancient" for things only 2,000 years old. They're the things that keep underage people from buying tobacco, alcohol and such until a certain age? That's why they card people because looks can be deceiving... My dad's birthdate was unknown.
