And that definitely shows up in the Old Testament. But I also remember Ecclesiastes 2:24 says, "There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God." In this day and age, I am curious. I know if I work hard I can attain things and take joy in those things, but if all is vanity, and yet I take part in them, yet I worked for them, I'm not sinning against God am I? I know that anything you put before God is idolatry and sinful. But in this case, is all really vanity? I know that every good thing comes from above. I'm just wanting to clarify this one. Not fulfilling. So while you may enjoy them they do not fill the deep needs of the soul and in the end may leave you feeling empty. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly or fulfilling. So pursuing Him in Scripture doesn't leave you spinning your wheels in useless endeavors. I am not saying all hobbies are sin. But if we make them a god, or what our lives revolve around, they can be made a sin.
