WorldWide Church Of God

Recommended Posts

http://www.exitsupportnetwork.com/recovery/testimony/lamb.htm

I have recently cut ties with a cult, with the Worldwide Church of God, after twenty years in its spiritual concentration camp. After surrendering twenty years of my early adulthood to this false church I am coming to terms with the expected regrets, repercussions and the inevitable journey of healing in Jesus. Thank you for being there for myself and others whose minds have ironically been opened by the rhetorical overtures being made by the WCG to pursue acceptance by mainstream Christianity.

I was a member a long time ago. I even went to the feast where Herbert gave a sermon in person. I don't believe in there theology any more for a long time. I meant a lot of good people there. But it's not lead by God's spirit. It's good your finish with it. Christ is our salvation through faith.

I was duped by this cult and spent ten years there. I nearly lost my family and my job because of its teachings which I obeyed thinking I was obeying God.

I had a fantastic job, very high income, the manager warned me several times that If I leave work at sundown again he would fire me. Naturally, believing what I was taught, I left at sundown Friday. The following Friday morning he called me into his office and told me that if I leave at sundown this evening, don't come back, you will be fired. I replied, "Well you may as well fire me now, because I will leave this afternoon at sundown.

He floored me with his reply. He said, "Get out of my office right now, I will pay you to stay home Friday evening to Saturday evening, just don't tell anyone."

God read my heart. God did protect me as He promises even though I have since learnt we can observe the Sabbath on any day.

I eventually left my employer after finding a far better job paying even more. I'm glad to be free of the WWCOG cult.

I read several years ago that this cult is no more... the leadership realized that the founder meant well but  the founder was horribly wrong in his teachings!!   I can't recall their current name exactly but it has Grace in the church's name.

I stumbled upon a very good Christian message on their website....and was stunned to realize they were formerly WWC of God!

I was happy to hear the above...I had an aunt who was in it.

Grace Communion Church of God is the name of the core group of the World Wide Church of God leaders.

They did change the doctrine of the church however about half of the people in the church didn't go along with the changes and many of the local pastors....   so they split off from the core group and Herbert's teachings are alive and well still today.      The Restored Church of God, as I remember, is one of those groups.    So the cult teaching lives even though the cult leader died in 1986.

Many of the church members who did not like the change moved over to Garner Ted Armstrong's church that he set up when he and his father had a falling out....   that's a long sorted story about the direction they thought the church should take.

Both of them were masters at rooting out bits of Biblical truths and getting people to pay attention to them then taking the people back to full under the old law existence.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions is a proverb or aphorism. An alternative form is "Hell is full of good meanings, but heaven is full of good works".[1]

Seems to me that most churches that follow the unique "reveals" and teachings of one individual man are cults. For they all deny jesus in some way, exalting themself instead as a  teacher with special reveal  and or as a prophet. If a church is not Christ Jesus' local body of saints it is likely not of Christ, for God is second to no man. Any man taking credit for special wisdom that is  the Holy Spirit's reveal  of the word to him alone is deluded in my own opinon. Even if they are of Christ, they are  misdirecting out of pride in their own name and are not humble in the name of our Lord Jesus.

Now there are gifted teachers and pastors, but those do not sell their name above Jesus name.

The end result of salvation, is, that you are accepted by God. =  Heaven is gained.
Salvation, Grace, the Blood Atonement, (same)  is the sole and singular method and entire means that God uses and provides, to accept you, and keep you as His, forever.
Some, who are very self righteous, have the misconception that God saves them, and then they keep themselves saved.  (Legalism).
Of course  all religion including Christian heretics would argue that man has some part in saving themselves..... But how can this be so?   After all, what can you possibly offer God that would compete with or equal the Shed Blood of Jesus?
If you are saved, you came to the Cross a sinner, and from the Cross Jesus Himself redeemed you.   And your part in that is what?    What is it?   To RECEIVE WHAT GOD has provided for you thru the Cross, is your part.
But what about living holy later?  Well, that is what comes later, AFTER what SAVED YOU< Saved you FIRST.
      See it?
God did it, you get it, and you dont get any credit for it, unless you have nail holes in your wrists and rose from the dead after dying for the sin of the world.
Is that you?   No.   There is only One.
So, some who are very self righteous, have the idea that after Jesus's blood ALONE has redeemed them, then their  "holy lifestyle" kicks in as THEIR 2nd part of God's salvation plan.  And of course, think......= if God didnt accept you or your lifestyle before He saved you, do you think He will accept your lifestyle later, along with the Blood of Jesus to save you and keep you saved?
Funny how people can be so religious and so self righteous and try to take some of the credit for their salvation, instead of giving God and Christ all the credit for what they did, and they did, only.
So what is it exactly that God did to save us and keep us saved?  What is another way to look at Redemption, as there are many, and i'll offer you one now....
Well, to find an answer, you have to know the problem, first..   And so, what is the only problem that an unsaved human being has, that is keeping God from accepting them and taking them into His family?
Its only one problem    = Sin.    This little word has great implication into eternity, as if this word, .. if what it means regarding each and everyone is not dealt with while you are breathing, then you will be dealing with the end result from the day you die until .............   Never ends.   John 3:36 is the  current situation facing every person who is not a believer in Christ and has NOT been born again.     And God is not Joking.  Look at the shed blood on the Cross and realize how serious God is about sin and the consequences of unforgiven sin, in eternity.   Reader, if you are not saved then ......understand this.....Your SIN, cost Jesus His sinless life, and if you do not come to the Cross, then your sin is going to cost you your eternity, and there will be no second chance after you are dead.  Christ died on the EARTH, and you take Him as your own savior on the EARTH, or not..   You do not get a redo, or a "take 2",  after you die, and realize then the TRUTH, that im telling you right now.
      Really.
So, what did God do for you, that resolves your sin issue, and mine, so that He can accept us, on HIS TERMS< and keep us,  based on HIS FINAL SOLUTION> ?
Very simple.  He , God, is merciful to our UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEREFOR..... OUR SIN ONCE FORGIVEN at the CROSS, HE WILL REMEMBER NO MORE.   For the born again, Its as if we never sinned.  And this position "in Christ" continues from the moment of our new birth, until forever., as that is the effect of eternal justification that is given as the "free gift of salvation", "the gift of Righteousness", that is created and kept by the Blood Atonement.
      Hebrews 8:12
God deals with our unrighteousness, our sin, by Jesus becoming sin on the cross and taking the judgement for it all.  Our entire lifetime of sinning, the eternal judgement due each of us for this....=  This is the "cup" that Jesus spoke about that He was about to face.  = The whipping and then the Cross and Death.
This is HOW God dealt with the unrighteousness of the entire world.  He died for it.   John 3:16   And this Death, is the mercy and grace of God giving righteousness in place of our unrighteousness.
      This is Salvation.
      This is Grace.
This is the "Gift of Righteousness", and we dont earn it, and we dont keep it, as it is given and kept by the same Holy One who provided it, for free.
      Philippians 1:6

JW Belief is first, the Bibilcal position is in bold
Christ is God's Son and is inferior to him. Christ is God. He took on the form of man to come to earth. John 1:1, 1 Timothy 3:16 Christ died on a stake, not a cross. Christ died on a cross. John 20:25, Matthew 27:37, 27 Christ's human life was paid as a ransom for obedient humans. God's people will be removed from earth. Before Christ, all went to Hades, after Christ only non-believers *Psalms 9:17, Matthew 23:33 The 144,000 are born again as spiritual sons of God. All people who confess Christ as Lord and Savior are born again *John 3:3, John 3:3-7 Christians must give public testimony to Scriptural truth. Christians must give public testimony to the gospel of Jesus Christ Romans 1:16, Romans 15:19, 1 Corinthians 1:17 The greatest name is Jehovah. Unusual to have two JW's talk to me at my fence just now.
      I am blacklisted.
As normal, they mentioned how important is God's name.

They asked what is Gods' name.

I answered that is was "Yeshua hamashia baruch hashem", "Adonai", "Jehovah", etc.
When i said "yeshua hamashia baruch hashem" she appeared to be taken aback a bit.
I think the red flags were going off. Maybe something like "Oh, this guy KNOWS something!"

I told them that Moses asked God what His name was and God said His name is "ego eimi" or "I am".
I told them that Jesus also uses that name.
They ( as usual ) totally ignored this and asked me to turn to Psalm 88.
I refused to read their NWT and got my KJV.
The passage gives Gods' name as Jehovah.

I asked them something like "So, did God LIE when He told Moses His name was I AM?"
      They of course said "No".
      Suddenly, they wanted to leave!
I told them that Jesus is also called/referred to as Jehovah which they don't believe.

My prayer is that the JW's will not be successful in spreading their filth and lies and they would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repent and be born again.

“Christian Science” is a false religion! Just as Joseph Smith founded the Mormons in 1830, and Charles Taze Russell founded the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1874, so Mary Baker Eddy founded the Christian Science religion in 1879. Following are the bizarre beginnings of the satanic cult of “Christian Science.” According to Quackwatch.org...
"In about 1850, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby of Maine used Anton Mesmer’s ideas of animal magnetism to develop his own healing approach. Quimby would place his hands on a sick patient’s head and abdomen and encourage supposed magnetic healing forces to flow through them. He claimed that diagnosis and cure resulted from the individual’s faith in him. He professed that conventional medicine was useless, that disease itself was “error,” and that only health was “truth.”
In 1862, Quimby treated Mary Baker Glover for a spinal problem that had failed to respond to orthodox medical care. The water massage and hypnotism that he used reportedly had a positive effect. On awakening from her trance Glover found herself cured. She concluded, however, that her cure was not due to Quimby but to “truth in Christ.” In 1875 she published Science and Health, which described her theories about religion based on the Bible and some of Quimby’s ideas. She said that God was the author and that she was only the writer. In 1877 she married for the third time, becoming Mary Baker Eddy, and named her new philosophy Christian Science. The Church of Christ, Scientist was founded in 1879."
At the core of Christian Science is the teaching that illness is an illusion caused by faulty beliefs, and that prayer heals by replacing erroneous thoughts with spiritual (true) ideas. Consequently, healing (and health care) is attempted not through physical manipulation of patients' bodies through drugs, surgery, or otherwise, but rather through prayer and spiritualization of thought. Christian Science practitioners claim that it is both therapeutic (i.e. curative) and preventative.
Christian Scientists deny the deity of Jesus Christ, deny the Godhead, deny Christ's blood atonement and deny the sinfulness of mankind. The following quote is by Evangelist John R. Rice (1895-1980), from his excellent book, “FALSE DOCTRINES” (available from Sword of the Lord publishers), pg. 128,129...
"Before me is the Christian Science Sentinel of December 22, 1934.  On page 330 is an editorial which states part of the infidelity of Christian Science which is mentioned many times in Christian Science literature--that is, its teaching that Jesus is not God.
      Here is the statement.
'Christian Science is doing much to clarify the thoughts of men regarding the great Way-shower. Among other things, it is correcting THE FALLACY THAT JESUS IS GOD.'
The teaching that Jesus is God, Christian Science says, is a fallacy, that is, is false.  Christian Science everywhere teaches that Jesus was kin to God only in the same way that every other man is.  Christian Science says much about the life of Jesus, the teaching of Jesus, and so on, but denies the fact of His deity, denies that His blood atones for man's sin, denies that Jesus is very God."
SOURCE: Dr. John R. Rice, from the book, “FALSE DOCTRINES,” pages 128-129, copyright SWORD OF THE LORD
