Safe from Major Fire!!

Recommended Posts

Saturday 5:30a.m. awoke to smoke and neighbor yelling "fire, get out of building!"

Trapped as firefighters fought it in our hallway of building....fire started in 207 around corner, I'm in 206.  Eventually they escorted us outside.  Many outside, couldn't find my elderly mom for at least a half hour!  Finally, a neighbor told me where she was.

I posted a long version where I help moderate.  Spent 6 hours outside as they fought fire and then investigated it.

5 apartments in my wing demolished!  Wing destroyed by soot and wet rugs.  Red Cross came.

But praise God, mom and I are safe, have apartment still and Miss Kitty who hid is ok, too.

Praise God for keeping you safe!   I went through the same thing in 1964!  A night to remember.

Isa 43:1  But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

Isa 43:2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Isa 43:3  For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

I think God woke me up to smell the smoke because I saw the guy who yelled fire today.  He said he only started yelling after I looked out of our window!

I also want to thank God for the man walking down our street at 5:30a.m. who called 911 to report the fire.  It must have been burning awhile to have been seen from the street.

If he hadn't called the fire department, we might have lost our apartment.

Firefighters coming here all week.  This early a.m. electric went out in fire wings first thru third floors.

Electrician now checking for short circuits.  I am at deli for internet and need to get food outside for my mom, a diabetic.

Quite a week, but we are still grateful to God.

After 10 hours of no electric, we got power back, thankfully.  Grateful our food in fridge did not spoil.  Grateful short circuits didn't cause another fire!

Heard fire captain talking to his fire fighters yesterday in our demolished hallway outside of my door.

He said because of the layout of our hall (it bends) and the long, narrow hall of the burning apartment, this was a hard fire to fight.  He said it should have taken only 10 minutes to knock down....instead it took 40 minutes...and the fire kept getting bigger!

He also said when they got the door open, there was a fire ball as the fire had no where else to go.  One fire fighter got knocked down by the force.  Two fire fighters got burned on their ears.   He also said they nearly lost fire fighters in this fire!

Anyhow, after hearing him talk, truly God was very good to my elderly mom and me.  Also, thank God, He protected the fire fighters from death.
