I have always loved reading of David , one of my top biblical personalities . It did occur to me one day in regard to his great sin , that God proclaimed that because of his sin :

                                                                                          " Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house ."   ( 2 Samuel 12 : 10 )

Meaning that inter-family strife and particularly bloodshed would be a constant circumstance that  " would NEVER depart "   within the bloodline of David .

The Lord being true to His Word .

Which means to me that somewhere on planet earth today is a family of Jewish heritage that is  dogged by bloodshed , murder and hate within the family as far back as they can look .

Has anyone ever heard of  any modern  Jewish family ever laying claim to this tragic proclamation by God and then verified by what would seen to be a constant state of family violence

going back several generations ?

I trust the Word of God on this so His declaration of the Violence within the Davidic line still holds true in 2017 .

I just wonder if any Jewish family has ever put the pieces together of why they seemed to be plagued by family hate ?

Thank you, UP.

I heard it said of some, that the world is governed by bankers and businessmen of Jewish descent,
and that these are the financiers of wars,
so when I read your post, something clicked which said, that sounds about right.
And till now the sword is inflicting strife among all the families in earth.

Even so, praise Jesus
Paul

"House" does not mean "family."   In the OT, "House" had to do with one's Kingdom.    God does not have an eternal vendetta on the descendants of David, if there are any (other than Jesus) still alive today.   God was talking about the sword not departing the kingdom of David.   That earthly kingdom is non existent. So, you are not interpreting that passage correctly.

In that case we should know exactly who in David's line was the last recipient of this declaration from God since it terminated ?

Do you know who that was ?

Hi Shiloh. Check out what God says.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel:
for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land,
because there is no truth,
nor mercy,
nor knowledge of God in the land.

Hosea 4:1

You are right, that it is not a vendetta.
It is the sword not departing.

Bless God
Paul

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword:
for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Isaiah 1:19-20

Are you anti-Israel?   What do you think about the modern state of Israel?

I don't know Paul , I think it is in the heart of man to " make war " no matter what socio-economic status they have .

As for this Business with the sword and the  " House Of David "  I personally believe the strong language " the sword will never depart thy house "  used by the Lord to mean something more than a few years .

My experience is that when God uses language such as this He is going big not small .

The " one day is as a thousand years "  principle if you will .

The Peace of the Lord + be with you .

I don't take thought for it.

I'd rather think about the kingdom of God.
The kingdom of heaven is at hand, but Israel is on the other side of the world to me.

Thank you, Unfailing. I don't believe so.
The hearts of men are good by default. God did good when He made him.
And I see that most everyone is peace loving and abhors war.
There is a general distaste in man for violence.
It hits the news when it happens, and we say to each other, That is crazy, and, Why?

It is when we are corrupted by rulers that are out to make gain, then we are driven to war.

I agree. What God says is.
