There are many books on Spiritual Warfare and I've read some. However, I agree with Sojourner414, in particular about the Gosepel. Jesus said regarding His Word: "When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart." Moreover, Jesus said: "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." I'll tell you a personal experience, of what does it mean "my words remain in you". When I fell in love with the Lord, I've memorized Matthew and John by heart. This is not something new, early Christians knew the Word by oral tradition, and Christians like Peter Waldo and his follower were used to memorize Matthew and John too. After I've done that, I feel that the Spirit has much power in helping me with the spiritual information and strength that I need. Then, you can gain more insights even by reading other books, but keeping Jesus' words in your heart and mind is really the most powerful weapon. Keeping them, and trying to understand them better every day, by leaving room to the Spirit to talk you through His Word. With an increasing understanding of the Lord, the love for the Lord increases. With an increasing love for the Lord, the strength to do good and avoid evil increases. The Bible is 1600+ pages, so it can be hardly memorized by heart, but the Gospel is such a small book, which contains 99% of what's needed. So this is my suggestion on this topic, and none of the other books I've read have been more relevant than this practice for me. Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. The evil day is Satan's tribulation. Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. He is coming at the 6th trumpet. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. God gave us power over all evil in HIS name. Anything evil comes around you order them out in the Name of Jesus Christ! Tell them to go back to Hades. Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

All that we need is the word of God and the indwelling Holy Spirit [evidenced by praying in tongues, that is praying in the Holy Ghost]. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:18 The power to fight against the enemy is given to us when we believe and embrace the full gospel of salvation and are baptized in water and the Holy Spirit. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.Mark 16: Further to the above the gifts of the Holy Spirit are distributed within a proper functioning disciplined Pentecostal church for the empowerment of fighting the enemy and not losing the spiritual war that is against us. 1Corinthians 12: 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these work that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. Others have focused on NT themes, but the OT has some of the clearest examples of spiritual warfare in action: 2 Kings 6, when Elisha’s servant’s eyes are opened to the real conflict. Daniel 10, when Daniel is told about an angel’s struggle (apparently the struggle was supported by Daniel’s prayer and fasting- something to dwell on) with the power behind the worldly thrones of Daniel’s day, and afterward (Greece). Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, where the narrative shifts from the local subject (king of Babylon, prince of Tyre) to the real power behind those thrones -Satan himself. Then, go read Ephesians 6...

When Jesus said that they shall expel demons that was a gift that was never meant to be permanent. The method of exorcism that Jesus used was a gift given only to the apostles and maybe a few others. We can only cast out demons by asking Christ to do it
