Called “Destiny Reading Cards,” charismatics – some associated with Bethel Church in Redding, California – are engaging in what is essentially tarot card reading. You can see the clip below, and then we’ll explain.

They call it a “reading” and refer to the program as “Christalignment.” They don’t do “predictions,” but they will help empower your destiny rather than control it. Using what is essentially tarot cards, they do a “reading” about relations, jobs and issues to help people “make better decisions in the future.”

The tarot is a pack of playing cards made originally in the 1400s in Italy and France, which are meant to help a psychic “divine” truth either about the future or a present situation (some assume the name is taken from the Taro river in Italy). Explicitly occultic tarots include a 78 card pack (as opposed to all the other kinds of tarot, which are implicitly occultic). The charismatics at Bethel Church and elsewhere have commandeered this satanic practice and seek to help people gain insight into their life from these “readings.” Here’s another clip, below.

Mind, Body and Spirit” is a group put together by fans (left) of Bethel Redding, and includes various partners, including the parents of Bethel missionary, Ben Fitzgerald. Students from Bethel Church in Redding were helping with their “readings.”

Jenny and Ken Hodge are hosting an event, “Taking Jesus into Counter Cultures” on March 10. They have modeled the practice of “taking Jesus into counter cultures” by doing their Christianized tarot cards at events like porn expos.

You can see on their public Facebook page their closeness with Bethel Church in Redding. You can see on their December 7 post their advertising of Christalignment (the top video) at an upcoming event.

You can see another “reading” by the woman below.

This reading does not involve tarot cards, however, but different colored agates.

This reminds me of 19th Century Catholic missionaries in China who took a well established tradition of ancestor worship in China and merely substituted the Catholic saints for the ancestors. Doesnt change the state of their souls one bit. The same here. You cannot reach out to the lost masses with their own practices

The word Christianity has become a word that does not mean what it once did. Everything  and anything uses it making false claims. Any one can say Im a Christian, but few are. I divorced the word several years ago to avoid association with those who deceive us and themselves. I am a follower of Christ and I will not look to the right or the left. It is vital we know the word of God. Jesus said tares will grow with the wheat until the harvest

My two cents

The reason why the Lord forbids the use of anything pertaining to the occult is that it is an attempt to circumvent the Lord. The very word itself occult  means "hidden" (that is, "knowledge" or "power"), and in using occult items and practices to obtain these things, it is man trying to go outside the boundaries God has set forth in order to attain them.

And that's dangerous.

God forbade the occult because there are only two sources of spiritual power in the universe: God and Satan. And Satan's power is a corruption of what the Lord originally intended for him; while he operates with the permission of the Lord, it does not make Satan any less evil or dark. He seeks to steal, kill and destroy (yes, that means Satan wants to do that to YOU, george2). That said, using the occult is walking right into the devil's den and asking to "play",  and that is NOT going to turn out very well for those who choose to do so.

Jade is absolutely correct: if you trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, then you have no business keeping those cards; they need to be destroyed and the sooner the better.

What concord is there between Christ and Belial? NONE.

i thought it was only bad when you did things with the cards? not sure how to even do it

is just owning them bad?

If you have some Christian friends, some mature believers, or a pastor you feel comfortable talking with, this might be something easier to have this discussion with someone in person to directly ask and answer questions and pray with about things.

If the cards have ever been used by anyone for their purpose, they have been exposed to demonic forces and could possible have something attached to them.....   it's not common but it does happen......    most of the time if that is the case the people who own them have something within them drawing them to use the cards...     much like the dark side calling them to interface with them.

Personally I have been exposed to a lot of the occult so I would not have them in my house....    but if you are not drawn to them they are probably just benign and won't hurt you.....     but personally I'd burn them, taking care not to set my house on fire.

Having them around, leaves yourself open to curiosity and temptation not only for you, but also others that live with you or visit your home. Ouija boards are just as bad as tarot cards. The name of the cards and the theme on them is a deception to keep people from recognizing that they are in fact tarot cards and are being used to represent a past, present and future of a person. See, if they called them tarot cards, you would most likely avoid them as you should. By using Christian sounding vocabulary instead, they can deceive Christians.  These cards were created by new agers.

Just because something has Christian sounding vocabulary attached to it, does not always make it truthful. Because the definitions have an entirely different meaning. The name and usage of the cards should set of warning bells and red flags that something is wrong. The bible never tells us to seek God in this manner. Nor is the gospel spoken of in this manner. Divination is explicitly forbid in Scripture.

The following is a copy/paste from google that is taken from this group's web pages. These below describe divination and do not lead people to repentance and salvation through Jesus on the cross.

We believe they are more predictive and higher than most cards, and can address a current life question that you may have. Card readings with Christalignment are always followed by the reader taking the client into an encounter in the highest realm. Often colour is seen and it is in this realm that answers come for poignant ...

The Christalignment team practice a form of supernatural healing that flows from the universal presence of the Christ. Christalignment teams are trained in Presence Therapy, Spiritual readings and cleansing, physical healing using divine energy, dream interpretation using the Hebraic method and deep spiritual alignment ...

Christian tarot cards? What craziness! It is sad that many people fall for this stuff because the term "Christian" is applied to the subject. I mean if Christian Tarot Cards are ok can I then maybe call Christian Pornography ok since it has the word Christian? This is why I believe that Jesus said, "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:14)". The NAR and those that buy into this stuff are so blinded to the truth.

Yes of course it is "bad" just owning them or having a set in your home. Your question begs another question: why would anyone want to have something that is connected to demonic spirits in their home?  The Bible says the LORD GOD told us explicitly not to be involved in these things -that means fully and completely. (Deut 18:10)  GOD has identified idols & items used for witchcraft, necromancy, sorcery, divination, soothsaying etc,  as cursed objects. I have to ask, why would any Christian even think twice to have something in their own home, that the LORD GOD specifically says is an abomination unto HIM? Having the fear of the Lord would be a very good thing in these circumstances and it is a quality that, in these latter times seems to be greatly missing in modern Christians because it is not being taught or explained in many of the pulpits.

Matt 10:28 "28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

Prov 1:7 "7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Deut 18:10"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.…"

Burn them things.    Yeah they call me the pyro man, yeah that's my name,  burning false books and cards all over town ..............

you be blessed davida.
