Be wise as serpents know thy enemy how the enemy works thus overcome.

Dont' entirely disagree, but which serpent are we to be wise as?  The one that was lifted up, and Moses' serpent, not Pharaoh's.  We need much more to know the Lord and in knowing the Lord, HE will show us what we need to know as we go along, and in this way we are sheltered by His Spirit.  We follow Him, we don't go in presumption or pride ahead of Him, we're not protected in those instances from knowing deep things of Satan which can open doors to demons in our life.  We're not to go digging for knowledge for its own sake....that way lies death.  Sorry to bring up a name, but Todd Bentley had knowledge of deep things of Satan, how this demon worked and that demon, and python spirits etc, but it was all knowledge which profited him not and only made him stumble.  Remember the Israelites if they were to gather more manna than they needed for the day and try to store it up, how it would rot and go wormy.  Our minds can be greedy for knowledge.......reasons of pride, power, or even just entertaining our restless carnal curiosity......that kind of knowledge, however "correct" it might be, does not come from the Tree of Life, it comes from the Tree of Death (knowledge of good & evil).  It's just a caution with that, we're okay if we just follow the Lord.

True indeed,

In the army of the Lord, there are different levels, there are the gatherers of food, there are the cooks, there are the archers, the horse tenders and reserves etc.

but the place that is not for everyone is the frontline, to be on the frontline one needs to know how the enemy attacks, it's weaknesses, how the enemy swings it's sword, once a frontline soldier knows these things, the enemy cannot surprise them, they know it's coming and how to defeat it.

Amen,  I agree.........one's gifts and callings will influence how much the Lord teaches and to whom.  Though I'm sure you agree, that still the principle is the same, to follow Him and not run on ahead of Him.......maybe we could say it isall the more needful when dealing with the darkness in a front line sort of way, to remain under the Lord's protection.

Yup, God isn't going to allow something the person can't handle, and even on the frontlines good people fall because like you said the running out ahead of the rest, they get impatient, quick to speak slow to think, that is a issue with all humans.

We are not to be ignorant of the wiles of the devil, but at the same time...........we are not to know the deep things of Satan.......and ought not to, nor do we need to, look into the details of how the devil and demons work.  (Not saying the OP is doing that, at all, it's just a caution in general)  Keeping our eyes on the Lord Jesus and He is the one who navigates and leads us through, no matter what the devil might be up to.

The Bible tells us about Satan. We do not need to study him. God is who we worship and have number one in our lives.

This is only true when a person has been chastised and disciplined and trained in accordance with God's Word and Plan and Purpose and Salvation in Jesus.  Most people refuse to admit they've been deceived by the devil - they hardly ever realize it because they resist God so long, and believe their errors and their pastors,  God gives them over to believe their own delusions - they almost never recover from this, if ever.    The world holds too much power over them, and they go along with it every day willingly,  not realizing it is the wide road to destruction, even here on so-called "Christian" forum and in the so-called "Christian" churches.   Too much and too many voices teaching and leading and comforting opposd to Christ making it "comfortable" to just go along and not resist evil.

Amen, very true brother.......I was talking about those who do obey and follow the Lord, if we are following Him, He is leading and guiding and teaching us through His word and with the help of His discipline/chastisements too.  But as well, there are many who don't follow and obey the Lord with their life, sadly, they live as they please and only give Him an hour or two of their life one day a week......yes, listening to cotton candy gospels which keep leading them further and further astray.
