The first batch of Arctic air to arrive in the Lower 48 is currently gripping parts of the Midwest, South and East. This will be followed by another reinforcing shot of bitterly cold air during the latter half of the week ahead. Wind chills 50 to 60 degrees below zero have been recorded in the Dakotas and northern Minnesota Saturday-Monday. The coldest wind chill observed was 58 degrees below zero in Hettinger, North Dakota, on Sunday morning. Its in the 70's here . . . and yeah, some are running the a/c. Temps are around 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. I'm not running the a/c here, but I am wearing shorts and flip flops.

I left NZ partly because I couldn't stand the cold. Now living in Melbourne Australia. How cold? Oh, in a cold winter we could get as low as ummmm ...-50C (230F). I spent too many years working outside in nasty weather like that in the military. I'm glad I live in the Southwest. I do not miss the cold months of walking like a penguin across icy parking lots, slipping on the patch of ice you didn't see, or sliding around while trying to drive on snow/ice covered roads. Then there's the black ice, and snow shoveling. No thanks.

Find all the water pipes frozen...some taps burst...equipment not working (including my own) ...hands freezing to the metal pipework...too old for that now. In fact, truth be told, too old for that then. Now enjoying odd days of 1070F or more. Absolutely love it.

By altering the course of history in withdrawing from the Paris agreement, his blatant abuse of power has inadvertently triggered a mini-continental ice age. This must be quickly rectified to prevent this condition from happening world-wide. President Trump must be declared mentally and emotionally compromised to the point of being unable to rightly fulfill his duties as President of The United States, the leader of the free world." Al Gore's explanation follows an event at a recent press conference where he was asked about his previous predictions concerning man-made climate change to which he declined comment at the time.ASP (written & released by American Socialist Press)
