Thanks for sharing.  I love looking at this type of stuff.

My son's and I set my spotting scope up this summer to look at the moon.  Thought about getting some photographs but couldn't figure out how.  We had it set on 60X and could almost make out the craters.

Taking photos of something that far away is challenging without NASA's equipment but it can be done.  Just Google it.  There's a super blue moon coming up and I'd LOVE to photograph that.

I wanted to get a telescope at some point, the problem is that I live in Pennsylvania....the night skies here aren't exactly clear.  I lived in Arizona for about 12 years, now THAT is a place to own a telescope.

I have the same problem living in a city the size of Houston.

My grandparents had a farm in northeastern Colorado and their nearest neighbor was about 8 miles away. Needless to say, there was ZERO interference with the stargazing on a clear night. We spent some unforgettable nights just looking in awe. Incidentally, my father (retired from NASA) pointed out satellites that we could actually watch in orbit -- tiny pinpricks moving noticeably across the night sky.

This is one of the first photos of Earth and the moon from over 3 million miles away taken as the Osiris-Rex spacecraft moves away from us.  Another glimpse into God's fantastic universe.

I would like that. Once in my life have I gotten a glimpse of our universe from a powerful telescope. It was fascinating.

Actually, the portrait is in the 51-second video at the top of the article; it incorporates the text of the first paragraph. The portrait itself shows up at about the 33 second mark; here is a screen cap I made:

That is so awesome!  We are living in God's fantastic universe and are able now to see just a tiny bit of it.
