Psychiatrists accept the initial diagnoses  of mental illness from medical doctors who perform certain tests. Docs and psychs often work together this way.

Besides, trump was examined for 3 hours. Not the 15 minutes your doc usually sees you (generic you). He was evaluated for everything.

If a person is showing signs of a mental illness an internist should refer that person to a specialist in diagnosing a mental illness. They should not try to diagnose that condition themselves. I think that the next step would be for the lawmakers to insist that Trump be evaluated by a team of reputable psychiatrists. Which may happen.

Trump passed with flying colors. Time to get a second opinion. Wow.

Yes, physically but mentally????? I am thinking that Trump would not agree to get a mental evaluation. Could they make him get a mental evaluation?

Was he also evaluated at that time for his mental health? He should be evaluated mentally by a team of psychiatrists that are not his personal doctor. Someone that the Congressmen choose.

Are you qualified to evaluate his need for mental health missmuffet... or for that matter... ANYONE’S mental heath or need for a mental health eval??

But....he is not a psychologist or a psychiatrist.Mental health is their specialty. The general practitioner or internist are not trained to pick up mental illnesses of the brain. Quite a difference. If you have a problem with your car would you go to an accountant?

Many worldly “psychologists” or “psychiatrists” are full of worldly you-know-what.... and you should know that. What value would their opinions add to anything in this discussion?

According to those who are qualified it looks like the eval is needed.

And who exactly is that who is “qualified”? Which mental health ...professionals.... are you referring to?

Well since they have been through much schooling for their specialty it sounds like it would be valuable. They would know if he is well enough mentally to be our President.

I believe there is a team of excellent professionals that the law makers are consulting with. There is more information on this earlier in the thread. You might want to take a look at some of the posts.
