No, HF, you wouldn't.  Hubby and I went to the Spudshed today (huge farmer's market over here) and got 3 huge punnets of end-of-season cherries for $10.  Okay, we will have to throw some of them away but mid-season they were very expensive.:laugh:

Hi Davida

I don't know how to preserve them.  I probably should have put them back as soon as I saw them in the trolley lol.  He had asked an assistant to get them so I would have felt bad.  I reckon you have done exactly the right thing. We will just go through them, weed out the ones that have passed their used-by date, and put the rest in the 'fridge. Blessings
