I was on the occult boards and i started talking with someone who is into satan worship and into astral projection.So i told him i just to be into the occult too.And that he could get out of body if he prayed to God long enough.Also i told him if he was saved he wouldn't go to hell.So i told him the next time he goes out of body pray to jesus to help him.

My question is do you think I handled that situation appropriately? Do you agree with what I told the person about being saved, and astral projecting?

Where in the Bible does it teach us to pray to God for long periods of time so that we can get "out of our bodies" and then ask Jesus to help us?

Zorgblar - where do you get this type of teaching?

I've heard that from a lot of other Christians on the occult boards. We're supposed to pray for anything our hearts desire. Do you think that's okay? I'm hoping I gave good advice.

Where is that underlined and bolded statement in the Bible?  I've never seen anything like that in God's Word.  The closest I know of is Psalm 37:3-4.

"Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

First you have to:

  • Trust God [and you do that by reading the Word believing it and living it]
  • Feed on His faithfulness [and you do that by letting him lead and not leading him around by asking him for things all the time and expecting God to just magically answer all of our earthly desires]
  • The most important is to delight yourself in the Lord [and that is to be perfectly content.....JUST how your are right now and to read, pray, and fellowship with Christians and to seek God's will for your daily life.]
  • LASTLY - he will give us the desires of our hearts, which after doing the first three things will be the desires of HIS heart first.

Psalm 37:3-4 does not mean to pray for anything our heart desires.

My strong counsel to you is to get off of those occult/satanist boards. There are lots of people who claim to be Christians, but who teach and practice occult philosophies like astral projections.   I would not go back there.

The Bible is the arbiter of real truth, not people on occult message boards who claim to be Christians.

Zorgblar, we've talked with you about this before. You need to get in the word and fervent prayer and get connected with a strong body of believers in your area. You don't need to be going to occult message boards until you've grown as a Christian and really know what you're saying.
