I miss so much of the social "culture"  in my neck of the woods that we enjoyed in the 80s, which were my teen years, as well.

Oh my goodness:43:, Shiloh!  You are so much younger than I thought!

Very similar sister...I'm 65 and became a Christian in 1977.

Was it during the Charismatic renewal?  That was happening when I got saved.  I did get a really good grounding in the Word as I had a wonderful Pastor and his beautiful wife.  I was in Sydney at the time.

I remember a beautiful sunny Autumn day (Easter Sunday) at Balmoral Beach, being baptised in water.  When I came out of the water and headed for the beach, the whole church was standing on the shore singing "I love you Lord".  Beautiful memories.  I would love to see those people again.

It's all a matter of perspective, Neighbor. I'm sorry for your experiences. But I remember the glass half full

I really loved reading your story.  Thank you.

I went to the movies tonight and the movie was set in the '80s which were my teen years. Everything from the fashion (bad I know :) ) to the music in the movie made me really miss that decade . I got kinda melancholy!

Should we as Christians long for times past?

Looking far back is far less depressing than looking short forward.

We just adopted a kitten that may well out live us both.

It goes by so fast.

And no I don't believe God is lamenting our lack of anticipating heaven from time to time.

God is love.

God is practical.

And when people DO finally get together, they ignore each other while they text on their phones!

This is modern day dating!

If all else fails, you've always got your phone!

No, no revival meetings...here's the long story if you are interested...https://brakelite.wordpress.com/2014/02/09/from-blindness-to-freedom-to-hope/

I have heard of people marrying their phones.   So dating their phones is part of the modern dating scene, LOL.

Back the in late 90s, the cell phone was used as a way of getting out of a bad date.   A girl would have a friend call her and if the date wasn't going well, she would pretend that the call was an emergency and she had to leave.
