Its not necessarily meant for us to be in abject terror of Him, like a slave fears an evil slavemaster Reading Scripture in context and can give us a clear understanding of what is meant by the word fear. In some places it may refer to reverence, in others guilty fear, in others fear of death, in others terror, in others the reverently fearful (but not guilty) knowledge of God's ability to punish us for willful sin. We should be careful not to assume that a word means or is referring to the same thing in every place where it is found, even if the same word is used. Reading the context, identifying the subject and the purpose, and comparing Scripture with Scripture are crucial for a correct understanding of Scripture. Simpson » Danger Lines in the Deeper Life » Chapter 2 – Sinning and Repenting Chapter 2 – Sinning and Repenting " And it come to pass when the judge was dead that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers in following other gods to serve them. and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.” Judges 2: 14-19. This, in a few sentences, is the story of the whole Book of Judges. It is a story of sinning and repenting. It is a picture of the Church and the Christian in a state of deep declension, and it is a declension all the more deep and dark because it followed a condition of the highest spiritual blessing. It came, not as the wandering in the wilderness did, after their deliverance from Egypt, but it came after their victorious entrance into Canaan, and their enjoyment of the life of victory and the fulness of God’s blessing. Its historical parallel is the story of the Dark Ages in the history of Christianity, when for centuries the Church sank into apostasy and worldliness, and for a thousand years the light of truth and holiness was almost wholly blotted out; and this after the story of Pentecost and the light of apostolic days." -------------------------------------------------

James chapter 2 verse 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse7, 8 They want to be teachers of the law but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. Galatians chapter 3 verses 24,25,23 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
