I’m going through what I was told by a doctor.. Tinnitus and it hasn’t gotten better. Going to a specialist on Thursday but I’ve been praying and talking to God, and had my pastor pray over me along with my dad for this to heal but I’ve been stressing on it on if it could be something major. My parents are always telling me to Let it go and give it to God and I try.. I pray for my forgiveness of stressing and thank him for healing me but I continue to stress on it. Point is, How can I let this go? I have a lot of faith in God and works and I know he will heal me, why do I keep stressing it ?

Hello,

May I suggest listening to praise music and reading the Bible? It helps me when I start stressing about things in life. It reminds me that God is in control. Praying for you my friend

Ask God for healing according to His will and not your own. Ask Him to give you the peace you cannot give to yourself. Pray daily. It's hardest to wait on God when facing perhaps the first major problem of your life, but eventually it gets easier when you remember times in the past that He saw you through. Wait patiently and He will come through for you, perhaps in a way you did not expect. God bless!

I heard that tinnitus can also be caused by stress.   You might ask your doctor about that.  If your doctor doesn't find any problem causing the tinnitus, hopefully, you can seek to relax/rest in the Lord to help relieve your stress.

We all have weaknesses. One of those weaknesses is trusting God. I know how this must sound, like I am joining the crowd of people who stress "you don't have enough faith, ya gotta have more faith..." but I am not. I am rather pointing out a weakness we all have. And if we allow it, it can devolve into full blown anxiety.

Anxiety, panic attack, etc. are pretty common (judging by the number of entries in the Logos Bible software search engine). Wow. Even I am surprised. I wish I had looked this word up back when I was prone to panic attacks. But the pinnacle verse is:

1 Peter 5:7 (NASB95)
7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

It's easy to misread God's intentions say, by the Old Testament / Law of Moses... holding humanity eternally accountable for every careless word or thought.

But this was to force humanity from the Law to Grace.

I remember in my Shellback initiation in the Navy at the end of a day of confessing "I'm a slimy pollywog," they asked in a dunking pool "What are you?!"

Until you said you were a Shellback they dunked you in the slimy pool. With some it took a few dunks to get them to stop calling themselves slimy pollywogs.

And I guess that analogy can apply to Christians who are Shellbacks in Christ but tend to perceive of ourselves as slimy pollywogs in many ways. And in a sense that

is clinging to the Law rather than letting God and trusting God... even though he has shown us time after time after time he loves us and forgives us and wants us to get

past whatever we allow to hold us back.

Make sense?

Your ailment is bad. All ailments are. But we all have them in some form or other (the world we live in is evil and our bodies and natures are evil). God makes up for the difference in all things. We have to trust him that he is. And that is hard as we like to have control or assurances other than trust. Closest we can get to that kind of assurance is reading the scriptures under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.

Otherwise the world (and we ourselves) tell us how miserable we are and put upon and everything imaginable to make us worry, upset, fearful, anxious, panicky.

Confessing your sins (to God alone btw Psalm 51:4) is realigning yourself with the ongoing, uninterrupted forgiveness we already have in Christ Jesus (1 John 1:9 taking the Greek tenses into account). So if that is your concern... read it in context (1 John 1:5 - 1 John 2:17) and read it again and again and again unpacking what it says and means.

And remember, when you use the right perspective, you see that God has never been a vindictive tyrant like most make him out to be but a loving  Savior whose every action and thought has been to save people since the very beginning. He has more than earned our full trust!

Rest in that trust.

Rest in that peace.

The true shalom.
