There's translations and then there are paraphrases. I'd stick with translations. Of the KJV, the NKJV, the ESV, the NIV, and the NASB - I tend to read the ESV the most for it's ease. It's not as easy as some others, but these five are the ones I hold as most accurate. I do have copies of all of these and read them.
