Ever since Jesus shed His blood on the cross, the new covenant began.  Central to new covenant teaching is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit for those who believe in Jesus.  Consequently, believers are referred to as the temple of God because He dwells within us through His Spirit.  Collectively, we as the body of Christ are His temple as well.  God’s temple is where He dwells.  Any reference to the temple of God during the time of the new covenant is a reference to the body of Christ, either corporately or to the individual members, because that’s where God dwells.

  • Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it.”  Revelation 11:1

This is clearly a reference to the new testament understanding of “temple” because people are being measured.  This “measuring” correlates to the time when the two witnesses are sent, which is same time as the false prophet’s war against the saints, which is the same as the time of great distress.  What’s being measured is the temple of God (the body of Christ), the altar (the sacrifices being made) and those who worship in it (the individual believer).  The question is how is this measuring going to take place during that time?

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

When the sacrifices resume on temple mount,  how will you view that?  [I am not looking for a cop out answer and say that it isn't going to happen,  what will be your response,  if they do? ]

Da Puppers

That question isn't relevant to the topic.  What people might or might not do on the temple mount has nothing to do with how the body of Christ is going to be measured.

Hi Last Daze

I believe it's the sealing of the 144K.  These are the ones that are following the Lamb wheresoever he goes.  God has something special for them in store.

You need to finish the verse to v. 3.  Go measure the Temple of God, and the altar, and count the worshipers there.  But exclude the outer court, do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles.  They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.  This is referring to the Temple in Jerusalem.  Inner court to be measured, outer court not to be measured.  This does correlate to the time of the Two Witnesses.

  • Nowhere does it state to count the worshipers there.  A little due diligence goes a long way.  Check the original text.
  • Nowhere does it state to measure the inner court.  It states specifically what is to be measured.

Are you not familiar with the new covenant teaching of the temple of God?  I summarized it in the OP.  If you'd like, I can go into more detail.  You do agree that we're in the new covenant through the blood of Christ, don't you?

If the Israelis build a structure on the temple mount, or anywhere else for that matter, and construct it according to the pattern in the Old Testament, that does not make it the temple of God.  It may be a "temple" and they may call it the "temple of God" but the temple of God, by definition, is where He dwells.  When Jesus died, the curtain in the temple was torn in two.  Why?  Because God no longer dwelt there. Instead, He takes up residence in believers.  The true temple of God is the body of Christ, because that's where He dwells.  That's fundamental to the new covenant.

Again, how is the true temple of God, the body of Christ, going to be measured during the time of great distress?

Endurance

Revelation 14:12

New International Version
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

It is not what I Believe, but who or who Israel Believes.  One goes from the outer court to the inner court which one will pass the brazen altar and into the Holy of Holies (remember this song for us Christians).

I will answer your last question here.  We were measured at time of Salvation.  All our good and bad deeds were put on one side of a scale, we were found guilty, bound for the Lake of Fire.  God was on one side of the scale, we were on the other side.  Christ put Himself on our side, God then said Not Guilty.  The real question is, how were all the Believers who have died measured before they died?

One needs to read Ezk 41 and 42.  This is the measuring of the Millennial Temple.  There is an outer court (for the Gentiles), and inner court (for the Jews) and also the Holy of Holies.  Then go to Ezk 43  And I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east... The glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing East.  So we see Jesus Christ entering the Temple, It has an outer court, inner court, and Altar.  When was this Temple that Jesus Christ will enter constructed.  Why would Jesus enter a temple which is not holy?  People are not holy, but He who is in us is Holy.

Another problem I see here is what you say is the temple of God or our Indwelling.  Then according to this Scripture; Who is worshiping in you, which people are worshiping in you.  Are you trying to measure God because He is in you.  Take a real close look at this verse.  It is not saying what you think it is saying.
