Here is why I have thoughts on this. When I was getting baptized I was not married at the time, but living with my now husband. I was told that it is all wrong now. I might have to do it again, because you need to be repented before you are baptized not after. So am I saved. Just believing is not enough. Notice in verse 14 being born again is tied in with the cross. The Israelite simply looked in faith to the brass serpent lifted up for their healing. And Jesus goes on to give him an earthly picture. That brass serpent was a symbol of judgment and Jesus was judged for our sins on the cross. All who look to Him shall live! Guest Posted March 16, 2018 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Repentance means realizing that you are lost and that you need a Savior. The only work that GOD requires is to believe in the One HE sent. We are saved by what we believe, not how we act. We receive GOD's blessings by continual confession and obedience, but not doing so does not void our salvation.
