Ok I’ll try.

I think with subjects like this, we can either view it in a self help sort of way. Trying to be conscious of our pride or anything else we want to work on.

Or, we can surrender, read scripture, study and meditate and learn who God is, and as we grow in Christ He is the one who changes us.

Maybe it’s both parts combined?

Yes, Christ is the one who changes us.  He has put it in my heart to get rid of the pride.  So now I need to take action.  I need to get rid of the me centered thoughts and replace with the Christ centered thoughts.  Study, meditation, surrender, yes.

Set your mind on Christ, His words, and power.

My Lord has left me with the comforter, that I may gather in His word and understand and live in it's blessing. I deserve none of it. I have no personal merit from which to bargain and make demand of it. Yet I m so very blessed each and every day. Even this morning I am blessed.

And that kills my prideful manner if not my pride. For my pride is a stubborn and powerful beast it does not die an easy death, and it takes my flesh on some fearsome rides as it thrashes about to survive. Yet again and again the Holy Spirit is within and about. He comforts me calms my soul and dispenses with th esense of value of my pride to the point  it would not buy three sparrow for an offering. My pride is not worth a nickel.

Praise God for the recognition of that , now if I can just  get rid of that nickel's worth-

Though it is a secular tune and was likely not ever intended to be holy it does carry  within it's lyrics the emotion and style of how the Holy Spirit works withn me at least. Of my pride He is. killing it softly with His word. -

Strumming my pain with His fingers
Singing my life with His words

The cross, God's Word, God's Spirit, trials and tribulations, they all have the effect of purging the dross from us.

No, there are no '5 easy steps to a humble life' lol.

So true!

Another on the same subject of pride:

“Humility is the secret of fellowship, and pride the secret of division.” Robert Chapman.
