Thank you Neighbor for giving a great example of a poorly  disguised insult. Very tiresome.

Aw I probably should have let it pass, but I just found it hit me as funny this AM. I read some of the stuff I write and also say to myself, oh my really?

Yes pride is a terrible thing.. It prevents one from admitting an error and apologizing and moving on... Thus they end the possibility of productive discussion..

So, you are debating the meaning of  Ad-hominem? ;)

I have neer heard a KJV only advocate say that.  The KJV only position is that the KJV is the Word of God to English speaking people.  They have not, to my knowledge argued that everyone in the world must learn English in order to get the only Word of God.   The KJV only position isn't that shallow.  Their position is that any translation in any language that is based on the same manuscript stream that the KJV comes from (Antiochan) is the Word of God that particular language.

Yeah, I never had either. Then I started reading articles and watching videos. If you'll google it you will discover there is a lot of discussion out there on this very subject. I had no idea.

I do now.

To a be a little more accurate, all I said was that the title is misleading if this is actually a debate about Sam Gipp's version of the KJV debate and the title needs to reflect that.  It helps people decide if they want to engage in a thread if the title correctly reflects the substance of the thread.

That's why I changed the title. You were right. Though I saw it as a good series on KJVO, it really was a discussion of the merits and weaknesses of Gipp's series, and should have been titled accordingly, which is why I took your advise. :)

It's kinda funny. I was listening to Jordan Peterson debate a transgender about gender pronouns and was thinking, Man, I know how he feels.

Yes, I'm doubling down. I know the definition. :)

Yep pride to the max... Such a superior attitude you have..   I will let you have the final reply.. We all know how proud people must get the final reply in so they can feel they have ""Won""..

Yes, but who were you listening to on those videos?  Anyone can put out a video these days or post an article.  That says nothing about their credibility on the topic.   When someone is making over-the-top claims like saying that everyone has to learn English if they want to read the true Bible is probably not someone who has any real knowledge on the topic.

Peter Ruckman was a quack and more or less, had a cult following.   I am not sure Sam Gipp ever said that the KJV is the only true Bible in the world.  I would have to have him on video record actually saying that before I would believe it.

Edited to add:   We also don't know if Gipp said, "yes" in jest and the rest of his answer is omitted.    I know of a preacher that was being interviewed years ago for a local newspaper in my town and he made joke about something he was asked about, but the reporter either purposely or inadvertently related the pastor's words without the context of it being an attempt a humor.  He caught a lot of grief over that.
