Think you guys can edit out the pre-posts before the quote you are responding to - PLEASE???

We've seen the pre-quotes before, and it takes up memory space, OK?

Thanks!!

It says in Genesis that these giants became mighty in the earth, but that is because of their great size, in an pre-gun, possibly even pre-bow and arrow age, size would have been enormous advantage in a "Might makes right" society as the wicked antideluvians had. There is no evidence that the giants were intellectually superior to normal humans either, as Goliath was dumb enough to stand there and let David shoot him with a sling.

Actually, that is an interpretation of the passage and not a given.

This is a whole other debate, though, and I don't want the question to get lost in such semantics.

That won't help kittylover at all!

It is possible, though, that the false gods of ancient cultures did come from demons and demonic activity.

After all, who or what was it that appeared to Muhammed or Joseph Smith?

Now, can we get the focus of this thread back to helping this girl with her dilemma?

OK?

In my high school, we are learning about evolution,

Well, that's the most widely held theory in the academic community today

communism

Communism itself isn't that bad, if done right. Unfortunately, no one has been able to do so on a large scale

On a side note, the early Christians were socialist, a step away from communism

and greek gods.

Meh, good reading. It's not like they're trying to convert you. Some of the best literature out there is based on these myths (The Illiad, The Odyssey), and it's just fascinatng in general.

In my high school, we are learning about evolution, communism, and greek gods. To top it off, we are learning about slavery in the U.S. again(I am not a racist, i just get tired of hearing someone over a hundred times, if not more, having it shoved down my throat, only for the purpose of feeling sorry for the person sitting next to me).

I am not sure how to deal with this. To learn about these all at once is just havack on the head, but more than that.... there is no way that i can actually share my views on this because we are just readings book on greek gods and communism, slavery is in the curriculum again, and for evolution, everybody already knows my views on.

Any have any ideas on how to get through these subjects.. considering the fact that if i don't get good grades(only A's and B's... most A's), then i will not be allowed to go to church until the end of the next marking period. I should probably add that we are in the fourth marking period of school... and the end of the next marking period... is not until next school year. That marking period ends in October. Long summer without church..... including camp, VBS.....

There is also no way that i can get out of this subject for school.....

Yikes, that is a lot at once! Wouldn't be so bad one-at-a-time (in fact, it's a lot of fun! :whistling:), but all at once...

I remember evolution in biology last year... nearly every kid in the advanced class happened to be a creationist... and the top ranks of the advanced class were the most vocal. We tried to debate the teacher a bit, and we raised a minor fuss. All of a sudden, we "didn't have time" to cover the real evolution chapter. It was sort of anticlimactic. ...we spent the last few weeks of school that year watching random movies in science class.

We're working on Greek mythology in English class a bit now. (The Iliad, Oedipus Rex, Medea, and the like, mostly, with some background info thrown in.) It's taught by our student teacher. As he phrased it, he is "lucky" to have me in the class (though I torment him here and there and occasionally embarass him ) because I was really into mythology as a kid and I remember some things.
