Clipped from the original source (link above):

  • Based on new information, CDC is expanding its warning to consumers to cover all types of romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. This warning now includes whole heads and hearts of romaine lettuce, in addition to chopped romaine and salads and salad mixes containing romaine.
  • Do not buy or eat romaine lettuce at a grocery store or restaurant unless you can confirm it is not from the Yuma, Arizona, growing region.
  • Unless the source of the product is known, consumers anywhere in the United States who have any store-bought romaine lettuce at home should not eat it and should throw it away,

Good to know. I'm not that far from Yuma.

Pretty sad when eating something "healthy" can sicken and maybe kill you.

There is a 7 yr old girl in the phoenix area who ate a salad at a chain restaurant before the warnings and recalls went out. She got infected with e coli. Last I heard (3 or so days ago), she had multiple surgeries and her kidneys shut down (organ failure). She is dying. Because of e coli infection. Her mom went public so that folks are made aware of how serious this is.

Wow, what a shame. It will be great when we are no longer living under that curse.
