Sometimes, you just have to ask the person accusing you exactly what they meant.  Sometimes there is an issue under the surface that they don't know how to deal with, but you might be able to help them.  Sometimes people are just plain angry.

Proverbs 22:24-25 ¶ Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Proverbs 29:22 ¶ An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Have you ever heard of someone being over religious. I never thought you can never have to much Jesus. There are people who think everything is bad

Yes I have read of it too:

Matthew 6 English Standard Version (ESV)

Giving to the Needy

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The Lord's Prayer

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.  But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.  Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
   and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.[d]

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,  but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Fasting

“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,  that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,  but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Do Not Be Anxious

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,  yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

One of the mistakes new believers make is putting the cart before the horse. They think that to be  Christian is to doo many good works or ministry . I know because I have been there. They do what they believe God wants them to do instead of doing what God wants them to do.

What did God call us to do. What Mary do when Martha thought she should be serving tables. She was intent on know what Jesus was teaching. Its nice to help a little of lady get he bags across the street. but he didn't say run  around and find all the little old lady they could find.

When the legalists tried to trap Jesus they asked Him what at the greatest commandments. He simply quotes Gods word. Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart mind and soul, and love they neighbor as thyself. If we do those two commandments we have done all he wants us to do. We do thee things when there is opportunity presented to us not running here and there so we can be known as Christian do gooders.. Doing good id simply following Christ example not looking for merit badges.

“Misery loves company”. The religionists are over-eager to point their finger at the sins others are committing ( always a type of sin that does not tempt the finger-pointer.) All they have done is “clean” the outer, visible man. They have not attended to the inside of the cup—- only Jesus can make that heart change. All the things they really want to do? They can’t do them no more. All the things they don’t really want to do? They have to make themselves do, lest others say that they are not “ living the  C hristian life”.Nobody can live the Christian life—- it is lived THROUGH you.Since I encountered Jesus, I don’t have the gall to point my finger at anybody.I am a wretched man saved only by the grace of God and the faith He gave me.The sour-faced religionists can’t have “ fun” anymore and he resents it!Things I used to do routinely I no longer consider fun anymore. I was changed, why one could even say it was like being “ born again”. True repentance does not lead to a pride that looks down on others and wags their finger at the poor sinner. “There but by the grace of God go I”. The tragedy of today’s Christianity is that some have turned it into a religion....Satan loves it....rather it be just a little bit,or “ overly”.

Has anyone ever been called holier than thou. Still some things are wrong and should be pointed out and sometimes with righteous anger. This is especially true Where Christ name is being cheapened by worldly compromise. No one is perfect but there needs to be certain holy standard personally and congregationally.

"Do not be overrighteous neither be overwise -- Why destroy yourself?

Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool -- Why die before your time?

It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other.

The man who fears God will avoid all extremes."

Ecclesiastes 7: 16, 17, 18
