I love how happy Christ looks in this stain glass.

Usually he’s depicted a solemn or even grumpy.

The way that buildings are being built in America are incredibly ugly, and unsightful to the eye. We have definitely gone off of the deep end when it comes to architecture and design of buildings. Beautiful churches are not beautiful churches anymore. I'm not exactly sure what went wrong, But Trump tried to bring back design of beautiful architecture. Not sure what was wrong with that. :39:

Stained glass would be a beautiful and interesting craft to learn...if one has the time and the space for keeping one's creations.

I wonder if there are many of these artisans left?   If churches ever need to replace some damaged windows....

I had a friend from Germany who was a stained glass master-unbelievably talented fellow, there was a pub here in South Florida called " the Stained Glass Pub"he did much of the work- it's a shame they tore it down

Growing up in NY ,as a child,I thought all churches had stained glass windows or were " cathedrals"

I have another friend who does stained glass as a hobby,I'll ask her for a photo to share

This is beautiful, though it not religious.

Interesting photo, wonder where it is located?

Some people salvage the stained glass from buildings to be demolished.   Although usually out here, any older or unique buildings are saved...put on a historic register to protect them.

Years ago St. Vibiana Cathedral in L.A. was severely damaged from an earthquake.   The building was saved due to it's history and converted into an expensive restaurant.   The Catholic Church built a new, modern Cathedral rather than deal with the earthquake damage.

we often have stained glass  windows in our homes if they are older houses . Mine was damaged in a nasty storm so I had to have it replaced ...cant say I was very sorry as it wasnt the prettiest window and was very draughty  but it was salvaged and used by someone who wanted it, My parents had a much p0rettier one  but again replaced it for a double glazed window

We used to have Church (Lutheran) in a bar (on other days), where all the glasses were stained.
