I always heard Florida had alot of bugs but on the news last night, they said a young man was gardening, and got stung by a strange looking Caterpillar.  He developed a bad rash.  The doctor knew what it was from.  Now the young man gardens with gloves and long sleeves.

Florida people, have you heard of this Caterpillar?   Also, I have heard your spiders are really big.  True?

You've got plenty of caterpillars with defense mechanisms, and that does include venom... Also, one caterpillar species is infamous for impersonating Trump's hair. The best defense would be spraying around one's property, and never forgetting the trees. I don't live in Florida so I wouldn't know, but if you want to see some absolutely massive spiders and crabs, look no further than Australia. They've got spiders that actively trap birds in their webs and eat them, some larger in diameter than dinner plates.

Not from Florida, but there are stinging caterpillars thru out the south.

this page will give you enough info to look up some of the different kinds and learn about what they look like.  you can also just google stinging  caterpillars.  Here in Texas we have one called the black asp.  that bad boy can kill you and they are known to drop down out of trees on you.  I had someone in my family die from one dropping out of a tree on them.  I dont know what their natural habitat range is.

Oh my.... didn't realize Texas had killer caterpillars!  So sorry about your family member...

Oh, sure wouldn't want to see those spiders or even their webs!   I squeal over the small bugs!

P.S.  Funny...I just had to edit this because auto-correct put website instead of webs!  Spiders with websites! ?

Not from Australia either, but since I brought it up, i'll post some pics.

The tarantula I mentioned

This is called a Paranaxia Keesingi, a type of spider crab which camouflages itself on the ocean floor north of Australia.

This is the Australian Coconut Crab. I don't know which is worse to find on your can, one of these, or a couple raccoons.

Finally, while not Australian, I thought i'd include the biggest crab species. This is the Japanese Spider Crab, who's legs are 3.5 to 4 feet long when they are an adult. To put that into perspective, this one is a "teen," not even fully grown yet.
