I have no idea what good these buttons do. They really are a form of ad-hominem attack on posts. What is their function? How does one respond to them? If someone uses one of those on one of my posts, should I just go and do the same thing to all their posts? What does this accomplish?

From my perspective, if you feel like "oy vey" or "huh, I don't get it" when reading someone's post, you might want to say that in a post, so they can respond. But how, exactly, do you respond to "oy vey"? The only response I have is "Opinions vary".;)

I had a brief moment of comedy run through my mind as I thought of hitting the "oh vey button" in response, but I completely agree. I feel like these buttons have zero contribution to positive dialog. But that could be because I'm a frequent recipient ?

I rarely use the reaction buttons but I have found oy vey and huh to be useful.

I don't I'm inferring it. What does it mean when someone hits the "oy vey" button if not a proclamation that what you said was, well, dumb and not worth responding to, at least in the eyes of the person hitting the button?

Then again, according to the dictionary it just means the person saying it is feeling grief. Now I have guilt that I've made people feel bad. :(    ;)

Is oy vey not an expression of surprise/shock ? Im not sure if anyone could or would use these both as an ad hominem although one could argue about the usefulness of "huh"

I have found that the best response to these things is quoting something I saw Ayin post some time ago.....    simply post.....     PFFFT.

What's kinda funny is that the reason I'm here is that I got a one month ban from another Christian site for using the "haha" button. Serious. They made the argument that I was laughing at a post that wasn't supposed to be funny. Those guys are on too much of a hair trigger so I just left. I really need an adult site where the other posters have as thick a skin as I do.
